Any recommendations for shorter mud guards? Factory ones are just too long.

Just cut them shorter. It was not that hard. I used a small hand saw then cleaned it up with a file.

I'm very happy with my Husky mud flaps. Long enough to still provide protection but short enough to not scrape every little bump and rock.

12v always on power point mod, tailgate anti-theft, Addl bed tiedowns, flyzeye dash lights, map lites with dome lite mod, bed stiffeners, air bags, brake controller, always on fog lights,
I cut mine shorter by 2 inches using tin snips following the contours of the original. Works great!

I cut mine off 5 inches. Traced the factory contour. Looks great.

I currently have the husky brand up front. They rub with 265/70/17 and my 3 inch lift. However, I only experience the rub when backing out while turning. Been thinking about taking them off, but will probably just live with it. Especially since the snow season is coming and I don't want slush and salt sprayed along the body of the vehicle.

I have no clue they stayed on for a few months and now my bed is cut with high clearance rear bumper and 35s.

How did you attach the rear flaps to the truck?

Don't remember exactly how much I trimmed off the factory flaps-it was a lot- but I am 1/2 below the center of the wheel, front and rear (2 1/2 inch lift front 3" rear on 255/85 r 16). Lots more rocks hitting below the doors and you can see from this image how the mud sprays up. Easy mod and very glad I did it.

A few holes lined up with the fender, I drilled some extras on the flaps. One bolt on the inner hole since the 1st gen flaps are not shaped like our 2nd gens so a connector wouldn't hold it securely enough. I really like them since they are flexible and much shorter versus the 2nd gen flaps. Got them on TW from a 1st gen member.

Thanks for the pictures . You attached them the same way I attached my aftermarket mud flaps, so those 1st gen ones would bolt up easily on my truck.

Jig saw. Took me less than one minute per side. Use the first piece cut off as a pattern for cutting the second. Cost = $0

I shortened my fronts by a couple inches. I made a template out of cardboard to get the correct contour.
I used a Dremel with a cutting disc.
It melted the edges a bit but no biggie as I hit the edges with paper to smooth them out.
