so aside from lubricating the drive line, oil changes, air filter changes, spark plugs... i shouldn't really worry about the big mile interval services? just keep up with that stuff?
the reason I'm concerned is theres a list of stuff that i don't know how to do. like:
    - inspect steering gear box, steering linkage and boots
    - inspect radiator and condenser
    - drive belts
    - ball joints and dust covers (where and what?)
thats the stuff i would take it in for... am i just wasting money having them inspect all that or should i pay attention to the service manual and take her in?

That's pretty much it. Almost all of that is a visual inspection, make sure it's not leaking. The steering is just by feel. You'll know when something goes wrong..

check and maintain all fluids, change at regular intervals, if your truck has towing package you will have added trans fluid cooler, this is good, unless you or someone else has been unusually harsh on the trans, you don't need to do much more than check the fluid level ( adding a way to monitor trans temp would be good if you plan on towing anything ) and inspect for leaks. ( all the hype about WS trans fluid is just that, my junk has 268k, i changed trans fluid at 262k, it was still red, wasn't burnt at all, and very little debris in the pan, a waste ? no, but now i know a little more about my junk )

drain and fill cooling system every 5years, 2 gallons of Toyota red 50/50 mix or a gallon of straight Toyota coolant and a gallon of distilled water and you're there, drain and fill, no need to flush unless you see crud in the system ( likely you won't unless something else got dumped in it )
one thing about Toyota coolant, if there is a leak, it will streak and cake in the area of the leak, telling on itself, keeping an eye on water pump area top and bottom while you're servicing other stuff, if you see a pink or reddish residue on anything, thats your tell.

Change the fan belt, its 4-5years old, 75k, not terminal, but is a wear part, keep it in good shape and you have less chance for sudden surprises. (save the old one in the truck as a spare "just in case"

all the factory ball joints are non-serviceable, as are tie rod ends, check 'em for boot leaks and tears, and ride on, unless you beat the hell out of the truck and constantly submerge it, they'll last well into 200k territory

steering rack, if its leaking, you'll know it. goes along with checking fluids, checking, changing out power steering fluid is reasonably easy and cheap 1-2 quarts of DEXRON3 ATF and a turkey baster and you can flush/change in minutes. though pulling the reservoir and cleaning the screen may be something to do at some point. read the cap on the reservoir, it says use "DEXRON type fluid" do not use "power steering fluid" its just generic hydraulic fluid.

front and rear diffs and t-case, you've done that, you'll do it again at some point

sucking out and refilling brake fluid in master cylinder (clutch master too if so equipped) will go a long way in brake system longevity, every 2-3 years is fine, you'll be flushing some fresh fluid into the master cyl soon enough changing you brake lines.
DOT 3 brake fluid is an alcohol, it absorbs moisture over time, keeping the master cyl fluid reasonably fresh helps keep this moisture from the rest of the system internally ( you've on the coast, its humid there ) this is something that is rarely ever done on any vehicle.

I'm at 71k which means I'll hit 75k by Christmas... That 75k service list makes me anxious just thinking about it.

If youre willing to teach me, I'll learn. I need to come back up there in January for camping. I've conquered my fear of hammocks as of yesterday. Dont think I'll sleep in one but I'll certain chill in one. Getting a softopper next week, and I'll be building a sleeping platform next month.

i'm game, actually I've got a tree i'm cutting up so there will be a bonfire here at the house at some point, which means a possible backyard camping event, as long as it doesn't rain the week prior to whenever i decide to do this and can actually get the tree cut up.

I wont be in NC til January at the earliest. :( Got three TW meets in three states, three weekends in a row in November. And Christmas in GA. Traveling is killing my wallet. I am dreading November to be honest.
