Bad Gas (tank)

I've had my new truck for 2 mo. now (2010 DC TRD OR 4X4) and she's in the shop AGAIN!
The night I bought her and drove home she acted up. Check engine light came on and started running like crap (miss). Took her in the following morning very unhappy! Dealer found a fuel injector was bad. This Mon. morning she does the exact same thing. Take it back to the dealer, now they can't find the problem till they test the fuel, it's dirty. It's not bad gas, it's a bad gas tank. The tank didn't get finished properly (they think) and had little plastic and metal bits in it. So my entire fuel system is gettin replaced, tank, lines, pump, filters, all the injectors and anything else that had fuel go thru it. Toyota corporate already knows about this from the dealer, and they wern't to happy to hear something like this made it out the factory door. I'm calling as soon I get my truck back to give them a piece of my mind. Maybe ask for a buy back, don't know yet. The dealer is doing the trans TSB for me and I may not want to get rid of her! I know this is a fluke (I hope). Hopefully she'll be ready today, I've got big plans for her.

i have heard of this before on 1 of the big 3.dont get to upset,just go with the flow and im sure it will get fixed.maybe it got something dumped in it at the dealers lot cause of a pissed customer on a tsb.

 

I agree with the last poster... don't get too riled up... it sounds like they are working with you nicely?

 

I'm not too riled up, just dissapointed. Cavender Toyota here in San Antonio is bending over backwards to make this right. Hell, I got a bed extender for free the first time I took her in.

WTF would you want a buy back for?? It's the same problem (I'll bet that last injector went bad cause of crap in the gas) and they are doing everything they can to fix it.
You are/were in the military- So I know you know mistakes happen- and how they get dealt with is the important part.
They are making it right- Have more problems- Then maybe think about a buy back. Right now- Call Toyota Corporate and tell them what a great job your dealership is doing making the problem right.

 

Yeah, I know, Shit happens. Just didn't like it happening to me, I'm over it. A buy back was never really in consideration. One thing the military did teach me, almost anything can be fixed! Cavender did a great job fixing it. And the tranny reflash, wow, what a difference. She shifts so much better. Not only are the shift points better, but the shifting is much smoother.

 

I would but I already have a 2" AAL and 5100's (rear) sitting in my living room. Just waiting on my coilovers to get here.

 

Hi i lent my 2008 toyota tacoma to some friends it ran outta gas they stole a jerry can of something that was not gas, maybe watered down fuel or soemthing and put a whole jerry can in my truck then turned the key repeadley until the barttery died, i was so mad i got it towed to my friends and took battery off and charged it, so now batterys charged what else do i do to make my truck work? shoudl i automaticcally assume its the fuel pump? or i ehard you can put mentyl hydrate in tank and syphone out bad stuff then maybe put fourty gas in it and it might work, my truck was ran on low gas before and was sort of feeling liek no gas when i hit pedle sometimes,

i got noone to help me with this i have had it parked for two months

Your first mistake was lending your truck to people you didn't know very well. Your second mistake was letting it sit for 2 months. Call around to all the garages in your area to find one that can do a full fuel system flush and pray. Pray that you don't have to replace your whole fuel system from the filler neck to the injectors, including the whole evap system. Next find phone numbers for those friends and let them know that they are going to help pay the thousands of dollars to fix your truck and go from there. This kind of problem can not be fixed very easily or cheaply. Good Luck
