Michelin Defender 245/75R16

Will these tires be alright on my 2017 Tacoma 4x4 Accesscab.New truck,and want to trade off Firestone defender LE2s for Michelin. They are p rated,that is why I ask. Got to make a decision before I recieve my truck in the morning I do not leave the pavement except a few logging roads

 

Do you intend to do any more off-roading??

P rated tire will have less tread depth and will be less stout of a tire.

 

I do not off road,but do drive gravel roads. Are there better Michelin than this? I have not looked,simply want a good Mich. in the snow,and mostly pavement. All I see is Michelin Defender 245/75R16 111T

 

Don't really know about Michelin. Have never had them personally.

If you do mostly driving on road and just minor gravel, an AT is for you of some sort.

I've have the wildpeak at3 and love them so far... only about 1k on them tho so still have experience to gain.

Michelin is a solid tire maker... that much I do know.

 

If I were you, I'd go with the Michelin LTX AT/2. They were great tires for me. I had them with the Load E rating. My last set lasted me 90,000 miles.

The Michelin LTX MS/2 will get a smidge better rolling resistance on the road, but the AT/2 makes up for its rolling resistance in its looks and it's offroad performance.

 

I have a '16 SR5 AC V6 4x4 and have the Michelin Defender LTX M/S in 245/75-16 LT on my truck. Load rating is 120 for 3042 lbs of carrying capacity which is about 600lbs more than the P rated one. This tire basically replaced the LTX M/S2 tire not sure if you are familiar with it, pretty much the same tread pattern but it is suppose to have longer wear. I don't do any serious off road other than gravel roads and some unmaintained roads that could be considered trails. So far no problems in mud or slick conditions, plus I don't care how my tires look to me it is more important how they perform for the conditions I drive in. The LT does come in limited quantities each year so not sure what the availability is now. I have always found the Michelin tires to perform well on all the vehicles I have put them on. A coworker has the P rated version on his Canyon and loves them, I have driven his truck and not a huge difference other than my feel stiffer when going over bumps and cornering. I don't think you would be disappointed if you get them.

 

I drive a lot of highway and gravel, and Michelins work well for both of them. There's a reason they are considered a/the top tire manufacturer. You won't be dissapointed.

 

Gave up on the Coopers huh? Michelin Defender is a great choice for an all-year tire and are unbeatable on pavement, wet or dry. The Michelin AT2 don't perform as well in winter.

If you go from the 245/75r16 to a 265/75r16 they will be an inch taller overall and look much better on the truck. This will effectively get you 1/2" of lift as well for a little extra ground clearance. Most people bump up to this size.

 

+1 on the Michelin LTX M/S. Great tires.

 

LTX M/S is what the OP should get based on his needs. LTX A/T will be louder and wear quicker. LTX M/S will handle logging roads just fine

Can't beat the Michelins .... As soon as I can wear out those Firestones.. It's Mich all the way.. I've already got Mich X-Ice on for the winter...

if you truck is a 4 cylinder 2.7l I would stick with the P metric 245/75/16 Michelin ms2 because the little engine looses power the more tire or other weight is put on the truck, the stock Dunflops are 32 pounds each and my truck barely pushes these so running a heavier larger tire would no be good for me to loose more performance

 

Is it ok to switch 265 and 245 on the same wheels, width wise?

 

Yeah my 2.7L has the 225 on them.

 

I've heard that the little 4 cyl. motors work best with Motorcycle tires... Why.... less drag...!

I've got a set on Bridgestones for my Goldwing that I'm willing to let you have... New and "in the box"..!! Worth a try..??

Damn... I'm just gonna have to wear them out on my next trip to Texas/Cali/Az and then BC/Yukon...!!
