It looks like the 3rd gen cab is largely the same as my 2nd Gen, and they have a nice noise reducing windshield. does anyone know if the windshield is exactly the same size? Mine is full of cracks so I need a new one anyway... wouldn't mind an acoustic one

3rd gen windshields might be nice, but very fragile:

I have never heard of a noise reducing windshield. I looked it up and it is usually thicker glass with a different membrane between the layers.

Probably lots of spendy for no minimum gain.

They've been really popular on luxury cars for a while now and are starting to trickle down into the more budget friendly market.

I think they're usually ~$200 more for a replacement (not too confident on that number though). My insurance will pay for a new OEM windshield anyway... not sure if they would notice the part # was for a 2016... I suspect not?

Dunno about all that but they're definitely more expensive. The handful of guys with replacement glass have paid $1200+ for their new windshields. Seems like they were hard to find also.

Glass insurance is a wonderful thing.

I'm not sure if it'll be a noticeable difference, but I'm willing to try it out if the 3rd gen windshield will fit. I'll call the glass shop tomorrow

    It is.

When my windshield broke I had to pay out of pocket. $500 deductible, no separate glass plans available and coverage didn't include windshields. So I paid $450 or something cash.

Then changed my deductible to $0 for an extra $3 a month. :bananadead:

$0 deductible!? I wish. Too bad you didn't make the switch sooner.

My deductible for glass is $200. So it aint totally free, but it's better than paying for the whole thing.

    No kidding.

For $3 a month I'd have done $0 from day 1. Especially after paying for a windshield for the equivalent cost of 11 1/2 years worth of added monthly premiums.
