Windshield crack

I have a 2016 TRD Sport, 4x4, double cab. The first ice storm after I purchased the vehicle the passenger side windshield wiper wouldn't clear a big oval in the center of the passengers view. a few days later a crack developed on the bottom right corner. the first cold snap after, it traversed across the windshield almost to the driver side. The dealer won't do anything about it because the windshield is not a warranty item. The local windshield replace company can't get a windshield because its too new.

a couple days ago a small crack developed about mid way up on the drivers side. After this second crack in 4 months of ownership, I'm wondering if the new hood design is causing an air flow that causes rocks to hit the bottom corners of the windshield. Or, the new windshield with sound dampening is too thin.

I emailed corporate Toyota and subsequently talked to them on the phone. They have no other reported windshield problems. I'm curious if anybody else is experiencing problems with the 2016 Tacoma windshield?

 

Search here an you'll find a few broken ones. And yes, replacements are certainly available. And you are correct, it's typically not a warranty issue.

 

Good insurance, and it's free. They'll find one eventually.

Windshield is a warrantable item. If it's found to be defective or a crack developed due to a flaw or failure of another part.

 

Depends on the state. CA for awhile did not allow policies to include zero deductible glass coverage -- at least that is what I was told from several insurance company reps. Not sure if that still applies as I got the HELL out of that state in 2013 and couldn't be happier with my decision.

 

There is a post about a crack apearing out of nowhere and the dealer did replace.

 

The windshield on these crack easier than any other vehicle I've ever had. I don't know what the issue is...
