I went relentless because I was afraid of cutting up the cowl (they bolt to the hood hinge instead) BUT, my buddy got the rago ones and the trimming was super easy, so don't be afraid to go that route. I actually like the look of his better because of the placement of the pod.

Go hood ones. I have the trimmed cowl and it flaps around...

So they both bolt to the hood, but trimming on the plastic cowl is needed for Rago Brackets?

Some bolt under the cowl, other bolt to the hood. The under the cowl ones require the trimming. Both options are strong and good setups. But my cowl does flap around a little bit. Not a big deal really. All depends on what you want to do, deals help in the choices sometimes haha

Might wait for some Black Friday sales. Enough people make them, I am sure you will have som choices. They are a great addition for sure. Not super powerful but awesome for adding light in places other mounts don't provide! I love mine and having a set of Amber covers fo them is great when your with a group in the dust. Really helps people see you.

I got the paint at Autozone I think, a while back. I loosened the caliper mounting bolts after cleaning them and then painted them on the truck. Left them there for a couple of hours and went and did some yard work. Came back and the paint was hard enough to handle and then removed the pads and suspended them from the sway bar end with some long cable ties. I replaced the rotors and pads so didn't worry about any paint on the original rotors.
    Dun..

Did this Homelink mod on my 2014 DCSB Sport.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/headliner-homelink-install.54783/

But I placed it behind the maplight console near the center of the ceiling as was done here.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/headliner-homelink-install.54783/#post-2300038

Carved out some foam block packing material as backing to the unit.

The template idea that the OP had was great. Also, inside layer of the headliner does require some trimming as the OP posted. I used a Dremel (and a portable vacuum) to grind away some of that. It still required a little Superglue to hold the faceplate to the unit but I think that's because my used unit had a little wear in that area.

Used two "quick-tap" connectors to attach the wires. Note that the wires to tap from the map lights are White (+) and White/Black (-) -- not Black(-) as originally noted -- at least on the 2014 that I have.

Programming was a hassle until I learned that I had to do it by climbing the ladder and hitting the opener unit button in order to program. Then I got back in the truck and hit the button 3 times for 2 seconds each time. For whatever reason, it would not allow me to program all three buttons to the same code. Each time I programmed a new button, the code on the other buttons disappeared. Settled on having just one of the buttons coded.

Glad this is finally done...been putting it off for too long. Thanks OP and all others who contributed to the wisdom here.

Oh, and I did the Final Payment mod a few months back...that was gratifying as hell.

Next gonna tackle the Bed Lights mod I've been avoiding.

The CBI ones are the only ones that I know that come with a switch. Factor that into your price comparisons.
