I've been reading through all of the many, many fog light threads, and haven't found the answer that I'm looking for. I've crawled underneath my truck, and searched for factory wiring by the sockets and wasn't able to find anything obvious. So does anybody know if the 2009 Regular Cab 4x4 SR5 came factory wired for fogs? Im looking at installing either factory lights if it is wired, or the PIAA 5454 kit if it isnt.

    Thanks,

    -Sean

Not sure about your truck, but my 2009 was pre wired. The wire was taped up behind and above the area where the lights are installed. I had to cut the factory tape and expose the wiring before proceeding. I had to add a relay and switch as well. The owners manual shoed where the switch wireing was located. Yours may show you as well to help answer the question. Also the relay that gets pluged in in the box under the hood was clearly marked as well. If you can locate this other information it may lead you to the answer.

Hope this helps. Mine were so easy it took @10 minutes in lousy weather! Good luck.

Thanks, but has anyone with a Reg Cab tried to wire up factory lights? I don't know if the harness changed between a double and reg cab. I looked underneath and all i could find was a single red/white wire plug that is sitting on the driver's side of the front. It's beneath the headlight taped to the wiring harness near the bottom radiator brace. I could'nt find anything on the passenger's side. The same wiring loom that that connector comes out of goes to a temp sensor? that is in front of the radiator.

    Thanks,

    -Sean

I have a 2010, could not find any factory lights so I ordered the PIAA 5454.
Paid $250 on Amazon. I figure that it will come out cheaper than for me to try and
install the OEM's. I have not received them yet but hopefully I can them and install them Fri. Will let ya know how it goes.

Your welcome, It was $249.95 shipped. Free shipping plus no tax.
I am curious how the brackets will mount up and I may order the OEM switch if
I don't like the one with the kit.

yeah, You got it from the auto barn seller?

The only thing that I'm hesitating about right now is that they are a driving lamp instead of a fog lamp... Honestly probably won't matter if i can just aim them how i want, but i wish it just came with the plasma ion fog.

Yes, it was Autobarn through Amazon.
I am going to see how the driving lamp does then maybe change later if I don't like it.

Well, got some bad news on the PIAA's today.....

"We're writing to inform you that your order from Auto
Barn has been canceled because the item(s) you purchased were out of
stock. Please return and place your order again at a later time."

Think that they would told me before hand that they were out of stock.
I have been waiting a week for something to tell me it was shipped and
    now I get that. :annoyed:
Going to look elsewhere for it.

09 reg cab tacomas are not pre wired, you would have to make your own wiring..

Took them over 2 days to figure out that they didn't have any? That's kind of ridiculous. Well I wonder who I should buy them from then. maybe it's worth it to spend the 15 extra bucks and get them directly from Amazon, it's still a huge savings over piaa themselves. I think they list at 325 or so... I got my tax return back and im itching to spend the rest of it on something... already got 5 duratracs for my truck... now fogs or a avid light bar.

Funny, Autobarn is still showing as "in stock" . Now I am waiting for Amazon to re-imburse the CC charge so I can try something else. PIAA's site list it as a pre-order still. I dont know bout Amazon...if Autobarn and PIAA dont have them, I am skeptical that Amazon would have them.

Gonna get some snow here this weekend so I guess I will be busy playing in it so would not have time to instal any lights anyway! :)

How do ya like the Duratracs? I am stuck with the OEM Dunlops for the time being.

Ahh... I guess i kinda was wondering if they had been released yet, everything on here about the kit said that they were coming out last fall, but no one ever said anything about them being available. Maybe I'll take the plunge and try to get them off Amazon just to see if I can.

I'm actually not jealous of your upcoming snow adventures, kinda sick of snow after the winter that we've had here. Most snow in over 100 years, plus coldest in 20 years.

About the duratracs, I love them, just the appearance of them is amazing. I don't know why our trucks don't come on 265/75/16's stock. We had some pretty deep snow right after i got them, I was able to run in 2wd where I had no choice but to run in 4wd with dunlops. So far i've had them in deep snow, ice, and mud, no complaints other than that I strongly dislike the open diffs on our trucks in deep snow. Got 5 installed for about a grand.

Nevermind, I guess I'm looking elsewhere also...

"Estimated delivery date for this item: February 19, 2010 - February 24, 2010"

That's that Amazon themselves say, price would have been $267.32.

    That sucks...

Seems like over half of the google results for PIAA 5454 are websites that send you to Amazon to buy the lights... May be hopeless... Let me know if you find them anywhere at a decent price and actually in stock.

Not having any luck. Still looking , but looks like I will have to do the DIY route.
I have the skill and tools, but no garage so I would be outside in the cold and snow
which I do not look forward to. I am getting too cold for that stuff LOL.

I have the stuff incoming for a couple of other mods too to keep me busy if only I could get an Indian summer!

My 09 AC did not have the wiring. I picked up a set of PIAA 510's on eBay for around $150 and did the install. Pretty easy and they work like a champ.

How do you mount them in the socket? do you just drill a hole in the bottom of the stock mount and make that work? or some other way? ironically, the autoanything ad on this page right now is for PIAA 510 driving and fog light kits...

I removed the insert and drilled a hole in the bottom of the socket. Pretty easy just take your time.

Thread with pics of the install. Does not show the drilling for the lamp mount.
