Question is , what are you doing to that poor truck? Mine has almost 60k miles on it, so yours has roughly 20k more miles than mine. Mine still drives like the day I took it off the lot. Very little rust and I live in salty winter pa.

I've got 85k miles on my 2012. My tires are always out of balance from the mud drying in the wheels. Other than that, it drives great - except the clutch is starting to slip. That's from abuse though, not any defect.

Sounds like the truck has been rode hard. Anytime you alter a vehicle it sets off a chain reaction of other problems. I have you beat by 100,000 miles. I've replaced one U-joint so far other than normal stuff like tires, brakes, shocks, fluids etc.

    1) Rust belt problems
    2) Rust belt problems though needing new shocks at 77k is pretty normal.
    3) Did you ignore this while you were still under powertrain warranty?
    4) You lifted it and should have anticipated UCA's. Most IFS vehicles need them.
    5) Is normal. Mine ticks like a sewing machine, did it from day 1. It's the EVAP VSV Purge valve.

These are delicate trucks that require maintance all the time. Gone are the days of just tune ups and oil changes and getting 200,000 miles regularly out of Toyota trucks. The simple fact is they are not built to last that long anymore. My dad's 81 Toyota has less rattles and problems than I bet any second gen and he's pushing 375,000 miles. There are a lot of new Toyota owners on here that don't know how good Toyota used to be and they think I am just bashing the second gen. It's just not that good of a truck.

I think delicate isnt accurate for the whole truck.

Maybe some parts like the clutch, xrunner manual trans, the rear suspension, and some other parts.

I thought this thread was going to be about mods, mods, mods. My truck has been a money pit by choice.

Sorry to hear about the issues brother. Yes, I would keep the truck..in for a penny, in for a pound. :)

Hell, get some mods on there too and make yourself feel better.

    What???!!

I have a full time job, a business on the side, and own a managed forest. Buy tools, my friend; not copious amounts of beer/vices and fancy tech stuff; tools are the key. Stay off faceless book, shwitter, and boomagram. Share some real FTF time with your friends getting shite done.

There is always time to learn and make shite happen when you need to.

My truck is a 2012 and looks new.... dirty, but new. I jump on any issue that arises, and fix it. I do a pile of preventative maintenance to keep it running as new, without the use of my warranty. Those tech guys at the stealership couldn't find their assholes with a map and a flashlight.

You can sleep when your dead.

2 kids, wife, mortgage, job and I still work on my own shit.

My truck is an 05 with 128k miles. She still drives great. I've replaced/upgraded a few things that bugged me, but none of it was a deal breaker and none of it NEEDED to be fixed.

You shouldn't have needed a new rack because of rusty bushings. Burning them out with a torch is the easiest way. Then slide in some new ones.

If the only way to get it out is to torch it out, I have to replace the rack... it was literally welded into the rack!

I used an air chisel. It took some work, but they came out. I live in AZ where rust doesn't exist so I'm sure the rust factor makes a difference.
