If I strip then sand, would I sand by hand or with a sander? Don't have one but will buy one if someone recommends one to me
    Thanks again

Go to a local Sherman Williams store and talk to one of those guys. They will give you all the recommendations about what removers to use and what-not.
IMHO - I would sand it down to bare wood, stain it, seal it.

Yea, start with a chemical remover for the old paint, which, once dries can simply be scrapped off.

Then sand. For the flat part of the door, you can use a sander. You will need to hand sand the trim (middle rectangles). 60g, 120g, 180g, then finish with 220g. Make sure you get ALL the old finish off, or your new stain may not absorb.

Also recommend to use oil based pre-stain wood conditioner, oil based stain, finish with oil based spar urethane (good for exterior as the spar has UV protectant).

Got the gas mileage down to 13mpg! Modification complete
You can just paint over that paint. Modern paint is really good, just knock off loose paint and scuff whole door with a red scotch bright.

Before and after of the fireplace. Mantle isn't done yet but Its 2x12 pine that I plan to distress a little and finish it with a darker stain. I would have done a stack stone but... when life gives you free stone veneer, you use it.

Is there going to be any knee braces on the posts to resist racking ?

Anyone have any suggestions of good magazines related to home improvement?

I keep seeing an ad on Facebook for "fine home building" but it's $30 for 1 year and I read a bunch of comments saying it's a shitty magazine with not necessarily true information in it.
