I've only had one vehicle that was junk, but I half expected it to be (Dodge). A vehicle like a Toyota, you expect them to be sorted before they pinch them out the arse end of a dealership. Crooked CABS? Crooked beds? Ungreased running gear? Almost empty transmissions? Disposable diffs? Leaky front/rear windows? Reading turd gen forum here is as bad as reading a RAM forum, what with all the problems these things are having. Some people rationalize these things and call other people juvenile names, while adults find such issues unacceptable, especially here in the 21st century.

The truck is evolving, and we will see if it is fit enough to survive with all the competition

Except maybe 1% of Tacoma owners complain on this site. People are more inclined to go online and complain than not. Thankfully I have not had any of the issues mentioned. All manufacturers have problems, toyota is no different, it's just exaggerated because where else do you talk about Tacomas but Tacomaworld, so all laundry is aired out here.

    This!!!

Toyota is only a year and half into 3rd gen production. Who knows what other issues arise as more owners cross through the 36k mile warranty ending barrier.

Mine is 6yr/100k bumper to bumper, engine for life, oil changes for life.

That said, had I never ventured onto Tacomaworld, I'd never know anyone was having issues with their toyota.

I am not sure on that one.

We just live in an age where the internet/complaints are so easy to voice. The 2nd Gen didnt have the "power of the internet." It was riddled with the little things just like the 3rd Gen. Many years ago I had a Gen 1. It rattled and had minor issues too.

Its just the nature of the beast (internet) these days. People have a MUCH easier way to complain. And it stays there forever.. for all to read.

Well from someone who has had 5 of all gens and been here a long time, there are far more issues with this gen than previous.

Some owners here have that warranty and the 8 year 125k warranty. But I bet most have the standard 3 year/36k banking that on past Toyota "reliability."

Couldn't be more wrong on your first statement, you do realize this forum has been around since the 2nd gens came out. ''Little things'' like diff replacements huh? Ya 2nd gen had less even from launch bud, I've been here a long time and like you have had all gens all configs.

You do realize the members have grown about 150% since then too right? Go back and read all the 2nd gen post.. I did. Lots of small issues that were not posted on because there wasnt as many members...

So have I, there are hardly any posts about rear diffs needing replaced, cps failures, water in cabin leaks, transmission fluid low and all the other as you put it "little problems" posts you see in the 3rd gen section everyday. This gen has had more teething issues than previous there is no denying that.

once again... not as many people to complain. So you didnt hear about all the issues. But I guess you are ignoring the common issues to look for on 2nd Gens that are well known and posted all over the 2nd gen thread?

The safety related issues on the 3rd gen are unheard of on other Toyota model forums like the Land Cruiser forums on IH8MUD, the FJ Cruiser forums and the 4Runner forums at T4R.org.

Slim to none chance you read about people stalling out in the middle of traffic, going into limp mode on the interstate, etc. on those forums, especially so early in production.

The only consistent problem I have seen since joining the forum in regards to the 3rd gen is transmission shifting issues and rear diff howl, even polls show low numbers of people having issues. Everything else seems exceptional.

OMG 3rd gen sucks because 5 people posted on Tacoma World /sarcasm.

Ive owned 3 2nd gens the common issues are no where near the 3rds, bad leafs (same ones on new gen) rusty frames (same design almost as new gen) and wheel bearing that eventually go out are from from a truck with less than 10k miles that needs a diff replaced or cps fails on the middle of the highway, etc.

The 3 2nd gens I owned one needed a front diff seal replaced at 60k and the truck was lifted.

My 3rd gen at 6 months of ownership and 10k has had 2 replaced diffs, upper control arm plugs, new interior dash piece broke, zerks were dry from factory along with low transmission fluid and had a tsb for a twitchy shift pattern.

So then which has less problems or seems more problem prone?

It has cooler where the spare tire goes and independent rear suspension so you can go bajaing super fast. I haven't slept in three months knowing I made the wrong truck decision :poking:
