    Hello, everyone! I'm looking for some help here. I was trying my 4wd out this morning and something is wrong. When switching from H2 to H4, both H4 and L4 lights start flashing. Once in the H4 position it does NOT engage. At this point moving the switch back to H2 will do nothing both lights stay blinking. I know the 4wd isn't on b/c I can feel the rear tires spinning. Any ideas?

    I assume you are a newby. If not, accept my apologies. You should be able to switch to 4H while moving. After the truck is in 4H, come to a complete stop and jam the clutch to the floor. While it is down, switch to 4L. If it does not work, search this forum for troubleshooting hints. This is a common complaint.

    If you're already spinning, it can be tough to engage 4x4 and therefore 4 low is not an option. It's a real motherfucker sometimes.

    I think I was reading here on TW a while back where a guy had installed a transfer case from a 1st gen into his 2nd... what a tempting idea, eh? ;)

    Why would that make a difference. Your supposed to switch into 4h when moving. The truck should still switch even if your spinning the tires.

    If the front wheels aren turning, sometimes it won't engage. It's exactly like shifting your bicycle while sitting still. The t case is chain driven.

    Come to a complete stop, fully engage clutch, put in neutral, keep clutch fully engaged while going to four low, keep clutch engaged still and shift into first gear while accelerating and releasing the clutch :)
    No need to start in 4 high.
