Well i found my first major problem with this kit today...........

Iv become a major sissy! I start even when its already warm just to I can have hot air in the cabin when I jump in the truck from this -2 deg artic blast lol. My wife and I were walking out of home depot, I turned it on when we were about 200ft away lol her comment "seriously? its not cold we were in the store for 20 min tops!"

She appreciated it by the time she got in the truck.

Please DO NOT USE those "3M quick connectors" on any wiring in a vehicle, EVER. The proper way to connect wires is to solder. If you don't have the tools or skills to solder, you can do a military splice instead, which is very reliable when done correctly. Those 3M connectors, or T-taps as they are referred to, can very easily damage the wiring in your vehicle. They way they work is they cut through the wire covering, and into the actual wire, which usually damages at least a few strands of wire. I am a long time remote start installer and have seen countless wiring jobs that are butchered up because of those horrible connectors. The wires in these vehicles are very small, and often brittle. The last thing you want is to be cutting into them in order to make a tiny, unreliable connection. Take the time to do it right!

True but one thing to remember is sometime stripping can cause more damage if not done properly. If you have the correct wire splice connectors (3m) it will be ok. I do agree solder is the best option but if you can't solder the provided connectors will not cause damage and be just fine. We have tested this in many vehicles before release.

At least when stripping some of the shielding off a wire, you have some control. Using T-taps and scotch locks like those, you have zero control over what is happening to the wire. I get it this is designed as a DIY kit and I'm not ragging on that at all, but in my 16+ years of installing remote car starters, I have seen tons and tons of damaged wires from hacker installs using those things.

If you use the correct size connector for the wire it works. A lot of people don't know what size for what wire and just use whatever they have lying around, that will do some damage. I have made many repairs due to this.

    Agreed thank you sir.

I've been doing this for a while and agree solder is my choice but the right size connector works just fine

Can you wire one of these up for a manual transmission and use it as long as you leave it in neutral when parking it?

If you're wanting a manual transmission remote starter, you should get a Compustar installed. They are by far the safest, easiest remote starters to use in a manual transmission vehicle.

@nickj718 I have interest in ideas around how to increase the range of the remote start. The ome is great and I would love to be able to keep just the ome fob if possible but am willing to listen to suggestions to give me some starting distance!
