Reverse Camera Anytime Harness Plug and Play 2014-2015

Reverse camera anytime (Existing rear camera required)

This harness is plug and play with light on ignition oem style rear camera switch. (Fits tall switch openings to left of steering wheel)

Requires no cutting of factory harness or soldering.

All connections are soldered and wrapped in heatshrink (including ground lug).

By default, switch lighting is wired to come on with ignition.

Switch lighting circuit can be left unpowered if lighting is not desired or you would like to tie it into your dimmer circuit.

Add-a-fuse can be piggybacked onto any 10+amp fuse slot.

This is a fairly simple process.

First thing you ought to do (when messing with any electrical components of your vehicle) is disconnect the positive battery terminal. This is less for the safety of the operator and more to prevent shorting and frying of components.

Remove HU:
I am not posting pictures of HU removal. There are tutorials that can be found using the search function.

1. Pry out HVAC controls and remove two connectors.
2. Remove (4) 10mm bolts from HU brackets.
3. Grasp the head unit at the top edge of the trim and from underneath. Pull outward and slightly up to free it from the dash space.

Installing harness:

1. Remove small cubby to the left of steering wheel to expose fuse panel.
2. Choose a fuse to piggyback off of for the add-a-fuse. (I chose the 30 amp wiper circuit). Using fuse puller (located under the cover of the fuse box in engine compartment) remove the previously chosen fuse.
3. Place the fuse in the open socket of the add-a-fuse.

4. Fish the add-a-fuse/switch connector under the dash and up to the fuse compartment. At this point, the add-a-fuse can be plugged into the empty space were the fuse was removed.


5. Remove a switch blank to create a space for the new switch, and fish the switch connector out of the space created. Connect the switch and snap it into place. (right side up...)


6. This leaves only one connection left to be made on this end of the harness. The ground. Any accessible grounded bolt will do. The ground wire is prefitted with a lug that conveniently fits on 10mm bolts. The ground wire is about 24" to accommodate other desired grounding locations.

Shown here, the drivers kick panel was removed to expose this grounding point.


7. Take the adapter end of the harness and fish it up under the dash into the HU opening. Its hard to take pictures of this step with both hands full. It may take a minute to find the opening, but it is there. I had a hand in both the HU opening and under the dash to help get the harness lined up through the opening. It helps you have long arms, but if not then it may be easiest to have someone assist for a couple minutes.

8. The factory 28-pin plug is removed from the head unit and plugged into the adapter.

9. The other end of the adapter is plugged into the HU.


10. Use supplied wire ties to tidy up the excess wire from the harness. Reinstall HU and AC controls. Reinstall battery cable. Ops check.

If switch does not light on ignition, double check that you have used a good grounding point.

Also, for those of use that have the offroad model, the switchblanks to the left of the driver's wheel are already taken.

Do you have an option for a switch that will fit in the spaces below the AC controls?

Also, I have been trying to find a similar switch for the switch blanks below the AC controls. The only one I have found will add about $12 to the cost. I don't have on hand but will order if there is interest.

Just a heads up, you do not state where you bought this from and the link "buy now" only directs you to your PayPal order. Please post where you bought this from as I am very interested in this mod. Great right up!

 

The reason it goes to a paypal cart is that I made the harness and have materials for about 25 more complete. The harness is produced, sold and shipped by me. I had the 28-pin connectors custom made and bought in bulk. I also purchased the other components in bulk.

They are made to order in case someone has a special request for longer wire or different connector or otherwise. I currently still only have the listed switch available.

 

Have you found a switch yet that can work under the Climate Controls Josh???
