Dakar is okay with negative arch to a certain degree. I know this much just looking at the design. I have no spring rate to quote you, I don't know what it is. Perhaps direct your question to OME /ARB and search their documentation. That's what I would do.

Spring pack design is different between vendors. So it's not universal to say that they are all okay with negative deflection.

You didn't ask, but I'll say it anyway, the Toyota stock leaves are also designed to run flat and negative all the time it would seem. I crawled under an unloaded 2017 and springs were flat. Totally normal for Tacoma, certainly not desirable for overland travel or hauling, just their design. It is what it is.

Yeah, its all interesting/odd, that's why I'm curious about it, also I find it bizarre with so many of them being used that not a single person has tried it and documented it.

So when you compress the main leaf, you simulate the rest of the leaf pack with a spacer, snug the axle back onto it and just jack it up to level?

Based on what I see my pack do in the off-the-shelf configuration I might be able to compress it all the way up to the frame/bump stop pad if it were just the main leaf.

Correct. Another way to do it is lay a string along the main leaf arch (bolt center to bolt center) then stretch it out flat following the arch of the rear shackle. That would give you the same bump positioning. You decide whether you want to bump it when the leaf is flat or negative.

I have heard that from several sources, 1 of them said he actually called ARB/OME and asked about it and they said it was designed to absorb Australian outback washboard roads vibrations/bumps by going back and forth from negative to positive arch.....But yeah its all "Internet he said she said", but calling them and asking directly would be the best way to look into it further.

OK cool, yeah it threw me off when I was just messing around and I could make it negative in my garage without breaking it down. I was curious what the "Right" way to do it.

Not a bad way to go. Inexpensive. My deavers have been great to me at the same time though. But it was near a grand for them but bolt in and no "custom" work.

    Thank you. Vote cast.

Thanks again everyone. Much appreciated. I'm honored and humbled.
So much work went into the build this year.

Thanks. Spindle guessets were an upgrade. Too many folks I know have bent them. Those plus cam tab gussets are really good upgrades for avid off-roaders.

I don't think I need to do anymore to the front end for reinforcements at this time.

I had originally planned on doing the TC coil bucket tower gussets, might still do that one day, but they are tricky to get right and welding cost was higher for that.

I'm still interested in a coil bucket top brace. I had one on my old car and it was awesome. Dirt Designs makes some for our trucks at reasonable price.

So those are a maybe, really depends on how hard I anticipate using the truck on trail.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

    :santa:
