    I definitely want to upgrade my lights... but this just seems like a massive install for a couple bulbs... Dries me nuts better lights were not used.

    Second is left unplugged. The single input only triggers the relay.

    This isn't a massive install, it's super easy really. 30 minutes and that's taking your time.

    Oh for sure overall it's not too bad. It just seems ghetto to me in a $40K+ plus truck and that's my hesitation... I wonder if a kit will ever work without a relay harness... I had one in my 2010 Benz without issue and that can bus system is crazy sensitive lol

    It's not the a canbus sensitivity issue here, it's that toyota only put a 15amp fuse for the combined circuit and some ballasts just draw too much power and the fuse pops. You can put in a 20 amp fuse and I'm positive you'd have no issues. I ran the 20 amp fuse without a harness for a couple weeks and it was perfectly fine.

    I was reading about that in your post... I wonder if a kit will ever come out that draws less power. This is why I am leaning towards LED lights... Less wiring. I live in the city and don't need much light. Back roads can always flip on the high beams..

    Some lesser quality ballasts seem to be doing okay, the hylux just uses a lot of power because it fires fast and really pushes trying to get the bulbs to temp fast. It's probably one of the faster ballasts made.

    I had a pretty cheap HID kit in my Benz and it worked well so spending a ton on one doesn't mean it's that much better. I think I am leaning towards the LED option for an easier install... Thoughts on that?

    I've had both hids are still superior

    I'm not personally a fan of the LED as the throw isn't much better than halogen. You're effectively just getting whiter color with similar pattern and spread. I'm in this for truly better visibility and the wiring is really not at all complicated. If you're going to spend money do it right imo.

    I am not sure adding an HID kit is really "doing it right"... There just isn't another option. Is there anyone running a kit without a harness? What about all this ECU damage one or two members reported?

    I won't be running a harness

    I called ddm to confirm and they said that the 35w kit has no problem on our trucks. That includes the wiring and added head put off by the hids
