I recently heard a sound like water trickling and then a sizzling noise like cold water hitting a hot surface just behind the dash in my '16 Taco. Also had some dripping out into the floor board. Took it in and they found that my "drip tube" was clogged with dirt. They cleaned it out, and it took care of the issue--

any experience with this, and can someone show me where I can find said drip tube? I do take it off road, so if this happens again, I'd like to clean it out myself, or prevent it so I don't have to spend 2 hours at the dealer waiting.

Sounds like a "drain pipe", and if it is, water can collect in the heat/ac plenum and to get rid of it they create a spout and connect a hose to it and run it outside the cab somewhere.

The A/C drain is just a little rubber tube sticking awkwardly out of the firewall and I could see how that might get clogged up. It'd be real easy to clean out, too.

Sounds more like sunroof drains to me.

    SR with a sunroof?
I have an OR w/out sunroof. I get the sound in the rain too. No water intrusion that I can tell; suppose I better have that checked out...

The sizzling noise behind the dash sounds a lot like when the cowl drains on my Mustang got plugged up and it was letting some spray hit the blower fan, which combined with the wet floor sounds like something in the cabin air intake drain got clogged up. Don't know where the equivalent drains are on these vehicles though.

    This ^^^

I had the same problem in my 2015. It was the cowl. The dealer originally thought it was a clogged drain tube.

    sorry, pic is upside down.
