Heated Seats wiring help...please

Ok, so instead of splicing the yellow wire into a green from a factory switch, can I add a fuse it to the Gauge 7.5A or ACC 7.5 shown in post 8? Would it still have the same effect? I imagine it's for dimming...

Each of the 12V power supply with the in-line fuse can should be add a fused to separate fuses, like you mentioned DR LOCK and PWR OUTLET. Since they already have a 15A in-line fuse, what size fuse should I run in the add a fuse? Should it be a bigger or equal fuse which is in the stock location? (I hope that made sense)

As you mentioned the red wire with a yellow strip "on wire", I can combine them and add a fuse them to the IGN or 4WD (JD'S Taco mentioned). Basically I want it to be with a fuse that on only when the ignition is on.

Sorry for all the questions...just want to make sure I understand! My LED's weren't this complicated lol.

As far as the fuse taps I highly recommend the low profile-Mini fuse type. I've been sourcing them on eBay from Funbient.

 

It should have the same effect because that spot only has 12v when the dash lights are on. I'm pretty sure the LEDs in the switches are no dim-able. I think they're just on or off.

The add a fuse for the heaters has no bearing on the factory fuse or vice versa. I would recommend a 10a fuse for seat heater wires unless otherwise specified by the instructions.

It's no problem at all. Anyone will tell you that I love helping other members whenever I can.

That's one way. I just used a metal coat hanger and carefully ran it through the switch hole through the back. I used a flashlight from the back to give me a good location to go towards. Then just taped the plug on the hanger and pulled it back through. In the picture the arrow is where I fed the hanger to and also put the flashlight to help guide me there.

Where did you run the wiring for your seat heaters? I was planning down the center console.

Hmmmm...I like your way of getting access to those blanks. When the blanks are removed, do the switches have to be pushed or pulled through the opening?

 

I ran it under the carpet and along the floor still panels. I'm not quite sure I understand but the switch gets pushed into the panel. Can you post a picture of your switch? Also how many switches do you have?

 

I assume the get pushed in from the back. I have 2 switches...1 per seat. I will upload photos when I am home.

 

No the switches get pushed on the face of the switch towards the front of the vehicle to install them.

 

Nice!! That should make the way your installed yours much easier for me...here's a couple photos of my switches. If I disconnect the switch and feed the wires in from the back (like you did) I can feed them through the empty hole, plug them back into the switch and and pop the switch into place.
Which way to the blanks push out? Towards the seats or towards the front of the vehicle?

 

Those are the exact switches I have. I'm pretty sure you have the exact same kit. Yea that's what I did. Unplug it and feed the wires, then plug it in. The blanks push out towards the seat. There's a few ways to remove them. You could screw a screw into it and pull the screw but then you ruin that blank. That's probably the easiest option and a new one is only about $5 from the dealership if you ever need it. Other options are to try to pry it out but you run the risk of scratching around the blank. I would just put a screw into a blank that you want to remove and pull it out. Once one is out you can push out the rest from behind with your finger.

 

Also I just thought about something easier for your yellow wire. Behind your AC control panel is a green wire in the black plug. That is also dash light illumination that will work. It'll be easier to tie into that than any switches. Unless you have any switches with illumination under your AC controls already.

 

Sweet! It is an ebay kit, lol. But the switches looked closest to stock...it does have a lifetime warranty too! BTW are your running yours under seat covers? Did you stick them to the seat or the cover? Any issues?
I'll definitely just a screw to pull it out! I don't have a reason (yet) to reuse those blanks.

 

I was planning on just doing the add a fuse to the ACC fuse or GAUGE fuse. Would this not work this same? I do have the A-TRAC button under the AC controls...but I was really hoping not to splice/tap any wires.

I stuck them to the foam under the factory covers. There's nothing wrong with putting them between the factory and aftermarket covers though. Here's a good write up on removing the factory seat covers.

I just wanted to say I installed these on Saturday. Man, these things are great!!!

I obviously removed the center console as opposed to running the wires from the floor. There was plenty of room to run the wires from the seats under the center console to the switches. I should've taken more photos. I did damage the area around the blanks because I thought I'd use a small screwdriver to remove them. I ended up using a large screwdriver after and had no further issues.


When I removed the blanks and to my surprise there were female plugs behind the blanks!!! I also have a lot of wires under my seats...what are the chances my truck is pre-wired for OEM heated seats? Are OEM heated seats only on the leather interior? What are all those wire under my seats??

 

That's awesome, I'm glad you got it all installed! A lot of people ask that same question but no one knows lol. I wish I had those same wires so I could test it with a multi meter.

 

That's a very good suggestion! I wonder if they were fused in the cab...if so, which blank and what amp they were fused to...I'll take a photo of all the wires. Maybe someone knows.

Thanks! Those are the same wires and female plugs I was talking about. I would assume (shame one me) that there aren't seat heaters under the cloth seats. In the first photo, the white wire wrapped up looks like it would connect to the heaters. I'd be looking at purchasing a few OEM parts and still have to tear down the seats.

Maybe one day in the distant future when I can afford leather seats and I'll have the look of OEM for a fraction of the price lol. I am very happy with mine!
