I noticed the same thing on mine. When I tightened down the latches as instructed it got rid of that gap. I did notice a strange opening near the driver front corner where the bed rail trac was not capped. I used some of the extra extang tailgate seal to fix that.

Extang now has come out with a foam insert for that crack between the side and front rail... if you want it call them...!!

    I just plugged it myself..

The note on the latch also says to only tighten 2 turns after it makes contact so maybe i need to do more than 2 turns

This is how mine looks. I tried to lift it and it's a bit tight to lift it...

Light rain through the night. Checked this morning and i see leak in the left side of the tailgate area. Almost none on the right side if the tailgate area.

Minor leak on the front two sides. I noiced little bit of outside light from inside (front 2sides).

I guess this means i need tighten a little more.

Check your tonneau's alignment. Sometimes if I'm off too far front or back or left and right I see some drops. I take mine on and off as needed, and when I hurried to put it back on I was sloppy in my alignment. Once I straightened her out, though, she was good.

I was originally getting water in from the sides of the tailgate, well below the tonneau completely. The Extang weatherstripping solved that.

That was it! Just made some alignment adjustment last week or so and since then rained about 4-5 times, checked the following day each time and no leaks. Well few drops if any but thats totally fine by me! :-D

Thanks all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

My buddy came over yesterday and I saw his Extang Solid Fold 2.0 was hanging over the driver's side of the bed... I said WTF..?

Mine is about 3/4" in from the outer edge on both sides... We checked further... His was 1/4" in from the right side of the box and was overhanging the left side by about 3/4"...WTF...??

I got a tape measure.... mine is exactly 60" wide.... his is 62 1/4" wide.... (the FULL box width)..!!

Long story short .... his looks like shit... mine looks sweet..!

I told him to go back where he got it and complain..!!

Any of you guys had this happen..?

EDIT... I think he got the wrong model..??

Hey fellas, i just purchased my 2017 offroad and was thinking about purchasing the extang or bakflip mx4. Are you guys using the raintubes? I'm not so sure if I want to drill my bed.

I have the 6' Extang SolidFold 2.0, and it is tubeless. Some folks have had issues but mine's been solid. Also a fan of being able to completely take it off in about a minute.

Definitely look around before you pull the trigger.

Any other suggestions CaptAmerica? New to the truck scene and I've been trying to read as much as I can. The extang seems like it's the best one to suit my needs. I have a longbed and like all the features. I'm trying to figure out how to make it as watertight as possible... So all the info ive gathered from here is pushing it back as far as I can get it towards the cab and aligning it till it sits well to get it as watertight as it can get. Thanks for responding. It helps.

Check my build thread (click the pic below). I've installed the tailgate seal as well. The only time water gets in is when I get a little "enthusiastic" with the pressure washer or I'm not careful and rooster tail a big puddle, and that's only because the water is coming in from under the tailgate and up the drain holes. I've added the cab rail plugs and tailgate weather stripping, and that's made a lot of difference. My bed is a giant trunk.

Alignment is CRUCIAL. If it's not lined up perfectly, you'll get little leaks. Fortunately, once you secure the front buckles it does not move.

My brother has a BakFlip G2 on his F-150, and it's been perfect. His install took much longer and isn't as easily removable, plus he had to have the drain line, but as a hard cover it's been perfect. It also folds up flush against the cab, whereas the Extang has to be removed to use the full bed.

If you order anything from AutoAnything, make sure you're on their mailing list because they email a lot of discount codes. Also, you can often get between a 10% and 20% discount on high price items if you get a sales rep in a chat and ask them questions about the product ahead of time. It's their incentive to seal the deal even if you made up your mind. I got an extra 10% off my steps and Husky liners that way.

Hey Capt! I couldn't find your build thread. Quick question, did you cap off the drain line?
Final question before buying either the encore or 2.0
    Thanks!

You must have signatures off. Build thread is here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/captain-ameritruck-build-and-bs-thread.406000/

There's no drain line on the Extang, only the Bakflip.

I don't have experience in any other covers.

Anyone know if my 2014 bed cover will fit on my 2017? Same bed size.

Thanks Capt! Took me a while to read your build thread. All my concerns were answered! Gonna put in my order for the 2.0 like yours. I owe you one buddy...

Quick question, did you put weatherstripping on the cab rail too? Post #183 from your thread in the last photo. I'm gonna duplicate everything you've done to the cover. Seems like you have it down! Thanks again.
