Hmm, yeah that line on the back fenders is an issue. I suppose even the base model will have that. I've seen a few people use plastic plugs, which isn't too bad. You can get domed or flush and they won't harm the paint

Another option is to Linex over the area which will cover the holes and protect the wheel arches. Your truck is dark so it would look good. You can tint it to match your paint. They may have to add a plug or small amount of bondo on the holes, but it would work. Just use the textured stuff.

I like the look and I may do it myself, but again..plugging the holes doesn't solve my main issue with it and that's the line on the rear fenders...why couldn't Toyota have just made it a smooth fender?!

 

Seems like a lot of work to fill the holes, but I can't argue with the final outcome. Looks pretty good.

I suppose since most models have the flares, Toyota just designed them into the truck. The base models were mostly fleet vehicles, so they didn't care about styling with the flares off.

If it really bugs you get a 3rd gen, as they were designed without flares. Only the lower models have them. Odd, yeah, I know

Saturday Night I was coming down my mothers driveway with an enclosed snowmobile trailer and started to slide. The whole driveway is a sheet of ice and is very steep . When I came onto the road the truck stopped and the trail slide right into the side of my truck. I was a Grizzly bear after the fact.

 

I realize this post is a little old, but I put Centric pads and rotors on my 1st gen. Dramatic improvement.

We have a Fleet of this Model at my Work place. '14's & 15's.

 

Yeah it is what it is. Somehow it only hit the side panel didn't touch the cap, tail light, or bumper. I am assuming this is because of the steep drive way.

 

Gotcha. I guess it could have been worse. As long as you are OK that's what matters the most. Sucks the truck got hit, but I'm sure it can be fixed.
