I tapped the illumination wire for the stereo headunit. The dimmer on our trucks is ground side dimmed so no worries about using that wire for switches.

Funny story actually. My 00 had a 2-pin connector just sitting back behind the big plastic piece that holds the 12-volt plugs. Could never find what it went to. I think it may have been like that from the factory but didnt have the fancy "light everything up" package lol. So i jumpered the pins on the switches and connected it to these 2 wires and sure as shit it is connected to the dash circuit and only comes on when i turn my parking lights/headlights on. Upper lights only come on when the actual lights labeled are on. Id suggest just splicing into your lighted cigarette lighter circuit. That way when you turn on your parking lights they come on with the dash lights and you feel like a professional electrician lol

I just tapped the cig lighter wire from the upper one.

Plan is to hard wire that cig lighter spot so that I can use it when the trucks off to charge phones etc.

If I wire it to the battery (through a aux fuse block) it won't drain the battery when not in use correct?

Switches come with a diagram of the switch pins and what pin does what and what to connect to that pin. As far as making your own wiring harness for your lights...listen to Zane...ive depended on the rigid industries wiring harnesses.

Explain this to me.... you are going to rewire the cig lighter to your own fuse block and then use the stock wires for other stuff?

When it becomes time I'd be happy to explain it further, its super simple but seems complicated becasue there are more than two wires after a relay and most harnesses have 3 wires... Like I said though I'd be happy to explain further when you're ready to install

Sorry if that turned out confusing. With the way I wired my switch panel under my radio. I tapped into the upper cig lighter using a legit wire connectors that disconnect from each other easy as I did with my other main power/ground on the switch panel so I could easily remove the panel and switches.

So as of now.. the upper cig lighter isn't wired to anything. I wanted to wire that to my aux fuse block which is connected to my battery so I could use the cig lighter when the trucks not on to charge phones etc.

I was just verifying that the cig lighter port wouldn't draw power from the battery if nothing was connected?

Oh okay.... yeah it won't draw power if nothing is connected. You don't have to wire it to an aux switch block to keep it on all the time though. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/power-outlet-mod.62495/

That might save some time, you can buy more legit looking relay jumpers too that are more protected.

What brand winch do you have, some winches use 3 wire remote, some like warn can use up to a 6 wire.

What bedrack would you guys recommend. Don't want the rtt to be to high above the bed but I also want enough room for gear. Try to keep decent gas mileage. I'll be removing it lot if that matters so I can use the bed.

Going with the tepui kukenam sky later on. Might mount some lights and other things to it.

OME 3", diff drop, exhaust relocation, and alignment. Shoes will be next on the list but the 265's don't look too bad.
