yeah I saw it and impulse bought. 31 spline axles already made for it. Accidentally left all the calipers/brakes crap for it at Jeff's house, but would have probably ditched it all anyways for new stuff. Still needs a diff. Like I said, I'll probably slow build it a part at a time and then once everythings ready, probably link the truck with it :anonymous:

a 9" can be done for some what cheap but not as cheap as a stock tundra. you can pick up complete 9" axles from junkyards for cheapish (last one i got was 300 bucks) but you will then need to deal with the bolt pattern and driveline flange. then you mind as well put disk brakes on it and a locker :D but i will say that its super easy to setup gears.

When I priced it out it came out to be ~$3500 for a ford 9.

Currie housing $550, axles $550, and brake package $600, and a third member from ecg or ruffstuff $1500 plus little nickel and dime parts

I got my old Currie Sportsman 9+ third member loaded with 488 gears and a full spool for $600. It had maybe two races on it. Chromoly currie axles, and housing for five hundred bucks. Deals are out there, just look around for them.

Very true. Problem i run into is alot of those parts would have to be bought anyway to convert lug pattern, and brakes and other things. Then the "deal" isnt really a deal anymore

Had a tundra axle in my truck, it started leaking. Spent 1k having it rebuilt properly by a Toyota Master Tech. $1k in parts and labor. All new bearings, seals, brakes, etc. It leaked after my first trip out. That money could have been spent on much better things.

$800 camburg fabbed 3.5" housing, hard to beat that for a fully fabricated housing with a rear truss.

Bought my 3rd member, and used Detroit locker on Ebay and paid close to $1k once I had gears and had it assembled locally.

I just bought mine for 895 with DR discount. Then you add hubs, brakes, and everything else and cry yourself to sleep for a few days. Make the best of it and use the tears as lube

Ive also heard mixed things. Which sucks.
Intresting, I would like to drive your truck and see haha. Exactly I wish there was an inbetween. my rpms are pretty reasonable at freeway speeds even up to 85.

Yeah I bet it is more peppy. That's what I'm looking for just worried about highway rpms and reliability. Heard the pinion gear on the 5.29 gets really small compared to the 4.88.
