Sticky actuator. Happens to me when (very) cold or hasn't been used for an extended period (though I somehow doubt that's an issue for you). Lots of people talk about it not engaging at all, having to pull it off and clean it out. Are you sure it's fully engaged and the light is still blinking? Usually I don't give it more than five seconds or so before I turn it back off, give it a second, and then try again. It's only really given me trouble like twice, in severe winter driving conditions.

Sure they can. BBM (big brake mod) is very common topic/thread in second gen forums. Or it was.

And I would get in on this health insurance discussion but I don't feel like looking at the math again. I just did that (or tried to) early last week in prep for taxes. I'm po, (and uninsured) so the penalty hasn't been a concern for me. I think with last year I'm like right on the line or something, but I'm not sure because of the whole gross vs net thing. I do know that paying the penalty is still less than paying the cheapest possible premiums for a year, and that's for the plan with the 6-8k deductible. You know, the one that you'd have to pay like 10k in a single year before you'd see a dime from them. The problem is not with 'Obama Care' other than the penalty and forcing you to apply for assistance you don't want. The problem is the cost of healthcare and insurance in the first place, and the for-profit nature of most of it.

    Fantastic...

Yes, you can tell it's in 4wd and the light is flashing.

Tonight, turned it on while driving straight at about 15mph, flat dirt road. Tried coasting, slight gas..

It blinked the whole way up the hill, 30 seconds but it was in 4wd from the start. It's icy and a steep grade so it's pretty obvious when it's in 2wd vs 4wd.

And as far as use, I'll put it in 4wd at least 3x a week if I'm driving slower up the driveway.

When you say actuator, are you taking about the piece on the front diff or the xfer case? Searching seems like people use the term loosely or its both.. and some ADD thing.

    I'm guessing it's a 30k mile warranty part being that i have 35k

Yeah i agree... The whole system is the issue, it's just the penalty that is annoying. But thankfully should be a thing of the past soon.

Anyone else have this actuator issue? I see plenty of 1st gens or early 2nd gens posting that they have had some type of issue but not so much for newer ones/threads.
