Have you used any heat or any penetrant yet (i.e. PB blaster, WD40, etc)? Did you pull the CV axle from the assembly prior to trying to remove the hub?

Had the same issue with mine. Had to use this as a press to get it moving.
Yes it is a slide hammer. But it has enough threads to crank against the axle.

I haven't had to pull the hub on my Tacoma (yet), but on my last truck (3/4 ton Dodge Cummins) it seemed like a monthly occurrence. A trick used on those trucks was to jack up both front wheels, unscrew the bolts several turns, leave the socket on the bolt and add an extension long enough to touch the frame. Start the truck and use the power steering as a press to pop the hub loose. Works like magic. I would sandwich some steel between the extension and frame as not to crush it.

I don't know if the frame runs where it would work on the Tacoma but when all else fails it may be worth a try. The Dodge ate ball joints like there was no tomorrow. Got good at it, 4 ball joints in less than 3 hours from wheels on the ground to finished with wheels back on the ground...

I had a helluva time with mine. I used a chisel and hammer ::gently:: alternating sides and top to bottom and so very slowly I got a pry bar underneath then just work the sides being careful not to over pry one side or the other. it needs to come out straight, the bearing will catch if you torque it too hard. try this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVuM8iVO6u8

In the slide hammer set, there should be a long bolt that you put into the hammer flange. Mount it to the hub and drive that bolt in with an impact gun (or ratchet). Takes 3 seconds. Thats the proper way to do it. You can really f some stuff up with a hammer, prybar, etc. Nothing like having to replace an entire axle because you bent the axle nub.

Great idea, wish I had thought of it when I did mine. Driver's side came off without much issue, passenger side took over an hour. Lots of pounding on a 2x4 with a sledge from the other side of the truck so I could get leverage to swing the hammer.

Another way it to put the rotor back on with only a couple of threads and use it like a slide hammer......

If you have compressed air and an air hammer with a pointed tip you can use it to put pressure and vibration on center of axle while pulling out on hub. You are not trying to drive axle back but just to have it not pull out with hub. PB Blaster as previously stated is the best there is as a rust penentrent

I tried this after you suggested it - good idea, but mine was stuck like a SOB. Long story short, i rented an axle puller from auto zone, pic attached. and it pulled it right off. but that being said, it was seriously stuck. i wouldn't have gotten it off with anything less than this.

thank you everyone for your advice and ideas... if you try this yourself, just save yourself the trouble and rent this beforehand... also, special thanks to @BamaToy1997 who provided a stellar product. my noise from a bad bearing is now gone.
