I am looking to swap out the OEM intake for an aftermarket. I have been looking at the K&N blackhawk. Worth the money? other Intake suggestions? Pro/con? Drop in air filter instead?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Just like any aftermarket intake on a car that specifically isn't tuned for it, you'll have negligible performance gains (if any). They do look and sound cool, though.

The long and short of it is if you think its worth it then it is, if you don't it ain't. This is a hotly debated topic in any automotive forum. I'm of the mind that it's not worth it, but that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions.

Also, this is a good read on the subject. http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/kn-vs-oem-filter.html

On the previous v6 i had, i did a K&N CAI. The engine noise was worth it to me - sounded much more like a truck. That is however, the extent of the gains you'll receive.

I'm in on this thread though, curious as to which will provide the best bang for your buck engine noise wise.

The noise isn't bad until you get above 3k RPM, but if you like LOUD then you can remove the plug on the front of the airbox and its just stupid loud. Thought I installed an exhaust system as well when the plug came out.

I have soo much fun driving this truck I don't have time to fiddle with cameras and that sort of thing.. I've been thinking of getting a GoPro for wheeling, in 4WD-LO.... hit the gas and shit starts to fly it gets real fun and the performance is insane at least for me.

This is not my first 4WD truck... I've owned Jeeps and a Ford (w/v8).

Nice I have a magnaflow exhaust on mine and considering adding the TRD PAI. Did you install them at the same time?? Wondering if I'll notice any difference since I already have the exhaust.

Of course this is subjective but did you notice anything on the butt dyno?? Any noticeable difference in MPG?

Yes noticeable for sure... actually the highway drone at ~70mph is now GONE and better/smoother acceleration. No difference in MPGs prolly went down due to now even more fun to drive...
