This might be the front body mount/ radiator support that a lot of second gens are having issues with. Sound like Toyota didn't fix it on the 3rd gens either. The body mount wears through, and then you have metal on metal contact, and it can clunk and screech.

There is a thread of two floating around here somewhere about it.

Or it could just be a loose bolt like others mentioned.

I had it too, mentioned it here in a forum I can't remember now. Mostly when turning right and sometimes while traveling straight. Speed had no factor on when it would happen. As soon as the temp got above freezing outside, it stopped and hasn't come back. Haven't gotten any more snow either. Sorry I wasn't a help but you are not alone.

They did too on my 15, l took some rubber hose and sliced it longways and slid it over the lower leading edge of the liner and it stopped about 80% of the rattle.

I had the same exact noise coming from the front driver-side area. I thought it had to be the suspension for sure or the wheel bearing and bottom joint. Took it in to Toyota and they couldn't replicate the noise. It only happened when it was super cold and the roads had ice but the day I took it in was around 35 degrees and the roads were melting. They found that the front frame mounts were loose and they tightened it up again to 50 lbs. I'm waiting for it to come back and then I'll bring it in immediately.

First time taco owner too. Wanted one since I was 16...

It's currently in the shop for the rumble strip vibes and I got a VM that the angles are within spec so they can't even do the TSB without possibly making it worse.

I wont be getting another Toyota.

Hasn't been above 20 in the last few days here in Bend. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. Exact same noise. Took it to my dealer a month ago when it first happened and they couldn't replicate. I'm going to take the video in tomorrow and hope for the best since it's supposed to be a high of 40 tomorrow. I'll update if the dealer does anything.

So Toyota opened a case for this issue. My service advisor said they have had a few people come in with this issue but not a ton. He had the tech tighten all my suspension components and frame mounts but since it won't be dropping below freezing anytime soon I will have to wait and see what happens.

This. I recall reading other threads about this issue with some 2nd gens. Dealer couldn't replicate the issue since they stored it inside the heated shop and the snow/ice melted. Few days later after driving letting snow and ice buildup the noise was back. Snow and ice builds up around the frame and cab.

I too live in Colorado, SW High country, and we are getting battered with snow. My taco started making the same noises after I drove on soft snow packed roads. I normally park in my garage, but my truck was covered in so much frozen snow/ice it floods my garage so I had to leave it outside. The noise was right under my feet. I had a massive amount of snow built-up around the bottom of doors to the rocker panel and underneath. As soon as we had a sunny day, I left may car in the middle of parking lot and let the sun bake it. As soon as the ice build-up was gone, so was the noise. It got covered in ice/snow again and started all over again. That is how I confirmed what it was. When it first started it sounded like a loose ball joint/shock mount/bushing, but ended up being something easy.

I found out what it was. It's a brake slap. Apparently it's normal. I just had my front brakes replaced a few weeks ago and it still does it. From my understanding it's from some pin in the caliper. It can be fixed but it's not detrimental to the truck
