So..im a bit confused on the "tool" you make.

Its a square chunk of tubing that "simulates" the axle housing? And then you slip 2'' tubing over the axle shaft to pre in the bearing and retaining ring?

Ben, you really need to spray the door actuator. My door is joy to open now. I am finding so much satisfaction from it. It takes 0 effort to open the door handle now.

I think this is the main cause for door handle breaking. You end up having to pull harder and harder. Im going to do the passenger side now because it helped so freaking much

Okay. I feel like everyone should do this anyways. Can't believe the difference it made. Gotta find a door panel tool in sheridan

Hi Everyone - New to Wyoming, we just moved to Lander. Thanks @Blackdawg for the invite to this thread. The picture of our truck is from Alaska last summer, truck looks the same just a little cleaner at the moment. Hope to see some of you out in the mountains this summer!

The tool is just to press out the bearing. I used the 2" tubing just to tap the bearing and retaining rings on. Not that hard to get them into place.

Exactly. You need something that attaches to those 4 studs while you press the axle down.

Thanks! Looking forward to meeting up with you guys!

Nice- Thanks for the welcome! Yep, we were coming back through town after sledding up in Sinks Cyn. Lots of Tacomas in Lander, seems to be the unofficial truck of the town.

huh. Well. That seems easy enough. And 2'' tubing is all you need to get the new bearing in? With a hammer?

Didn't even need a hammer. Just a 6' long piece of tubing was enough with some tapping.

Nice. Well cool! Maybe i'll tackle this myself after all.

The retaining ring is the important part to line up. What is it contacting in the housing really?

Gotcha. Thus the importance of lining it up.

    Thanks for you help!

It is not supposed to snow here. People here don't know how to behave in this white stuff. :D

We got a foot overnight at the house. A little less here at work. What an adventure getting to work today. I feel like I need some campfire time now.
