Well if you're talking in general terms, yea a V8 would always sound better then a V6, unless you're talking about a high performance V6 like in a nissan GTR or the Ford Raptor its very hard to get a growl out of a regular V6. I agree cheap exhaust makes it sound too drony and high pitched. Its very hard to choose for a good exhaust on a Taco or a Jeep. This is why I love Magnaflow, I've used it on my WRX and 2nd gen Taco. In my last truck under load the engine has a nice throaty Tacoma tone to it, its just right, it dissipates if you keep revving it and doesn't turn into a high pitched 4 banger noise. It sound like a 1st gen V6, even with our new engines you can still hear the Tacoma signature sound. I don't know what they do at Magnaflow, but I love the acoustics of their exhaust. You get a nice deep throaty tone during acceleration with engine under load, between 2 and 4k rpms, and that pleasant gurgle and pop during engine breaking especially in 2nd gear (sorry automatics). The start up also was very nice with a hint of Taco growl.

That's how a good high performance muffler(catback) should be, you should not be hearing it during idle or under freeway cruising in high gear. If you do you're no different then a ricer.

I'm looking forward to this truck as 3rd Gens have much better noise reduction in the cab. On my 2nd gen the Magnaflow was just a tad too loud during freeway driving in 6th gear, just a tad, in this truck it should be perfect.

Magnaflow on the 3rd gen is sweet it does have a nice growl but it is a tad loud on the freeway. I just bought some Raamat and ensolite to deaden it. Hopefully it turns out good.

Going to bullhead city at 5am and was dark and raining hard and ihit a wash doing about 60mph ouch!!! The only thing it did is broke the plastic piece holding heat shield to front right of fuel tank. It rubbed on the drive shaft. I did not notice it till I go up to bullhead 100 miles later. Bent it back now can we get that plastic piece that holds the he shield on? They were going to just cut it off but I said no just bend it back the best you can.

I also have done the TRD exhaust and Intake. I agree with you about the improvements in performance, though I am sure many would tell us it's our imagination and I guess only a Dyno test would prove any increase in HP or torque. But it's my $$ and truck and I think it was worth the expense.

I removed mine today. Just apply some heat.. I used goo gone for the adhesive residue that was left over.

Agreed. Used a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive a bit. Once the sticker is off, used goo gone to get the glue off. Washed the areas with soap and let it dry. Used masking tape for a straight line and put the new stickers on.

3200 rpm is nothing for a v6 that redlines at over 6k. The VVT is pretty gutless under 2k but it's designed for optimum fuel milage while not working hard. With that said I still can hold 5th gear at 55-60mph on the flats with my jayco 195rb baja. You should of bought a coal burner if you're not comfortable listening to the revs

It's not so much listening to noise as it is the potential for issues/failure. With all the road noise in the cabin, and radio I can tune out the engine. It's the fact that I'm about to drive from Florida to Texas with that trailer full; and if I have to go 55-60 mph the whole way there to keep it under 4k rpm, thats unacceptable.

I came from a POS mitsu raider with a (horrible) Chrysler 3.7 v6 that could out tow this taco with ease. And keep the rpms around 2250-2500.

Maybe I'm over analyzing, but I know once that trailer is full I'm gonna have one hell of a long and miserable drive.
