What's the best way to calculate TTL? Does TTL include doc fees or TDA fee?

If you look up invoice price on truck on page 1 , TDA or now called TMF on the current dealer invoices I've seen lately is factored in already to price. Doc fees are up to dealer (Louisiana is max $200) and registration fees are up to state (Louisiana for trucks including license plate fee and lien holder fee is $225)

Generally folks use TTL to refer to Tax, Title, & License (tag). i.e. the government mandated stuff that will vary by state and sometimes by county or even city.

Best way to compare deals from somewhere else is total of everything before TTL.

Doc fees can vary by dealer(*). One close by me has a $600 fee. Another dealer a few miles away has no doc fee. If I negotiate to "invoice price" at the fee dealer and "invoice price plus $300" at the no-fee dealer, which is the better deal? :)

TDA IMHO is irrelevant. It's getting paid somehow, if you make a deal about it the dealer plays three-card-monte and makes you think it's gone. I don't have any interest in those shenanigans, so I negotiate on Drive-Out / OTD pricing and in my own calculations I back out TTL from that OTD figure and compare to what my research says is the invoice price to measure the deal.

(*) though I understand at least one state regulates the dealer doc fee for some reason.

TTL = Tax, Title and License. It does not include doc or TDA fees.

Since you live in California, by CA law, the maximum a dealership could charge for doc fee is $80 (a dealer could charge less, but I doubt a dealership will charge lower than the max). Surprisingly, the doc fee in CA is one of the lowest in the country. Some states do not have a doc fee limit, and the dealership could lower their invoice price but charge a higher doc fee to make up for the difference (or even make more profit). I've see doc fees as high as $699 for other states. Also, some dealership are starting to add an Internet purchase fee if you purchase your Tacoma using their Internet dept.

The best way to calculate TTL (only for people that live in CA) is:

    $102
    +
    (vehicle purchase price) x .0065
    +
(vehicle purchase price) x sales tax rate of the city you live in.

This should give you the TTL fee the dealership should charge you (plus or minus one or two dollars).

From my understanding they do not offer a Manual in the SR5, you would have to drop down to SR Trim or go up in Trim.

So while i was at the dealership today, Tacoma's did go up $200, exhaust tip retail went up $9, tow package stayed the same, destination appeared to have stayed the same for gulf states at $995, they only had 3 2017s on the lot with updated pricing, and some of the items were paint protection, bed lights etc that are for Gulf State Toyota trucks. Anyone has anymore inside about how much packages or accessory price increased.

I will have to look this weekend and see about verifying pricing updates across the board for mid year pricing adjustments.

Going thru the Costco auto program, their invoice price and destination charge both seem to have gone up slightly compare to page 1 of this thread. For example 7148 invoice is now $29,592 vs $29,406 and destination is $960 vs $940?

Mid-year price bump, probably unassociated with the Costco program.

FYI, don't assume Costco pricing is the best deal available. When I was buying in September, I checked out Costco pricing and while it was okay I ended up paying about $1100 less than Costco pricing by getting my own quotes. See my post here.

Anyone who has ordered their truck , one dealer was trying to get the parts (exhaust tip, bed mat etc ) from the parts dept instead of putting it on factory order. The offered to sell me truck at invoice , but buying he parts from parts Dept added about $150 to the order because the parts are at retail instead of invoice price. Anyone else ran into this problem ?

I am taking delivery on the same truck a week but didn't get the tonneau, mats, step, or mudguards. I got ACOR 4x4 AT in Quicksand with P&T pkg for $34,272 in Colorado. Sounds like you got a better deal. Would like to see pics. Thanks!

I had a similar issue with a truck on the lot. They would not remove accessories or change them to something I wanted. They told me they were put on at the factory which is BS. Accessories are added in transit "at port". So, I ordered my truck with no accessories and got everything on internet (step, mud guards, rubber mats, sill protectors) $550. I would tell them to leave accessories off and buy them yourself.

I was told the same thing from 2 different dealers in Colorado. And same information was told to a friend in AZ when he asked.

March 1st I will be taking possession of a '17 TRD OR 4DLB in Silver with accessories that I would not buy, though get the chassis and colour I want.

Looking at getting a DCSB OR MT in Inferno and wanting to get the TRD 16" Bronze Bead Lock Rims. Anyone know what the invoice is on those?

I thought DCLB were hard to get, they mostly are DCSB, so nice find. I like the silver too. I struggled with buying the accessories. It added $600 to the truck on the lot. By ordering the truck with no accessories I saved the $600 and paid $550 for the stuff I wanted but its taking 2 months to get the truck. It was supposed to have been built two days ago, now they are telling me today. San Antonio plant must be behind.

I am figuring $32500 for invoice price including January $200 increase, so tell them you will pay invoice plus tax title and license. Before you do any negotiating ask them how much their document fee is (Louisiana limits it to $200). Even at invoice they still make dealer holdback and financial reserve. Which equates to about $900. I think at $33000 it would still be a great deal. If you really like they truck, even if you pay retail for truck , it will be bad ass. I drove same one in New Jersey and loved it.
