Mine did the same thing! At least I'm almost positive it was the CB. I could only hear it above a certain speed.

Don't trust the off-road shops; trust the enthusiasts on here who specialize in this specific truck. This is the kit you want. I had this on my truck and it rode great; way way better than the route you're taking. You'll have preloaded springs resulting in a rough ride up front and blocks can cause axle wrap.

Select 2885s, no assembly, no UCAs, and deaver single AAL. That'll get you your 2.5" up front and about 1.5" in the rear.

There are obviously smoother options out there (read: more expensive) but for a budget lift, this is where it's at.

 

That truck looks perfect. During my searches I looked at that exact thing but I wasn't clear on what to select for coils etc. What I'm getting isn't too far off from that I don't think. I'm keeping the stock coils and I thought a small 1" block in the back would be safe. We talked about an AAL at the shop but he didn't like taking the leaf packs apart. I have an TRDOR and the rear seems to sit high to begin with, I almost didn't do anything in the back.

 

The problem with 5100s and stock coils is you're preloading the coil to gain the lift, which results in a real rough ride. With the 885 OME coils, you gain your lift from the coil itself and the result is a smoother ride and better wheel travel. A 1" block in the rear isn't too bad, but installing an AAL isn't bad either. Plus then your load carrying capacity is slightly increased.

I just want to warn you that your ride will be rougher than what it is now, but as long as you're fine with that, then go ahead!

No, I loved my 5100s but I had them set on 0. I just wouldn't go to to the highest setting. And blocks are just poopy.

Actually, most progressive AALs are designed to replace the factory overload spring, and will reduce your cargo carrying capacity in return for flex. Many ads state this, some don't, but none that I've found give a specific reduction figure. Of course, most AALs can be setup with the overload in place, making my point moot, but then you lose some flex. As above, not judging...just want to help. Either way please let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

 

I'm talking solely about a single AAL. You are correct though in your statement about removing the overload for the progressive AALs. Icon states it reduces carrying capacity by 10%.

Indeed! It's not a hard process. Shouldn't take more than an hour or two if you were to swap them down the road.

 

I've had the cbi ditch light bracket on my truck for a good year now haha and finally got around to mounting some cheap 27watt Amazon led lights on to them

That totally sucks -- I'm feeling your pain. Good advice from other guys here: keep your receipts for anything you do.

Put the word out that you need 'em. Someone that's upgraded their suspension might have a good freight shipping connection to get them to you. (Changing them is easy enough that even I did it.)
