Funny how everyone knows each other, small world.
That explains how your "thing" is composed of various components. Surely a VF3AM swap should be simpler on my tacoma. Would you recommend that I put in the limited 4runner driveshafts and shorten/lengthen them to my tacoma or should I modify tacoma shafts?

I would imagine a multitude transfer case front driveshaft would be a bolt in deal. If your Tacoma has a two piece driveshaft, then no 4runner rear shaft will work for you that I know of.

Lol are you yotaoffroad27 on t4r.org? Sounds like y'all were trying to do the same thing.
I did learn that it doesn't matter what 4wd ecu you use in regards to the 99-00 vs the 01-02. Sounded like you wanted to be sure since they stopped the elocker after 2000. However the elocker runs off its own computer.

I think that was what was most confusing to me at first. But this swap sounds like it should be straightforward.

Ok now I'm confused. The whole vacuum vs electric ADD.

Yes, my other other name it yotaoffroad.

The e-locker ECU has nothing to do with the transfer case with the exception of in the stock configuration it needs the low range input to allow locking of the e-locker.

The different in the 99-00 and 01-02 multitude tcase is how it's controlled, and what ADD motor is used.

Every Toyota that I know of up to 00 uses a vacuum ADD (assuming it's not manual hub). Thus, the 99-00 uses a pair of vacuum switch's mounted on the bottom of the left inner fender below the fuse block. A pair of relays can be added so that a 99-00 ecu can control the electric ADD motor. If you look at the 4wd diagrams you will see that this is the main difference.

The 99-00 is controlled different from the 01-02. You will need to Decide which you want. If you want the j-shift pattern, you need the 99-00. If you want the straight forward and back style, you want the 01-02. If you choose the j-shift pattern, you will need the pair of relays since your truck has the electric ADD motor.. I can help here.

Oh ok I'm starting to understand it a bit better
This is what I'm wanting to do.

I didn't realize that there were 2 different ECUs. From your early research led me to believe that I could use the 01-02 ecu w/ the 99-00 case but see that you tested both.

So I can get the tcase, 4wd ecu, and front driveshaft all from the same 99-00 4Runner? But would need to get a front diff from a 01-04 Tacoma?

I've been assuming your truck is 4wd with auto hubs? If yes, you already have the electric ADD motor. If not, you are a prerunner and would need a 4wd conversion.

    Saw your posts about seats....

I like my wrx seats pretty good, wish I made them a little lower and tilted the driver side forward a bit 20160620_225659.jpg

Haha, if only. Starting from the bottom. So that means the elocker is wired to engage whenever

Those look pretty comfy. Any adjustments to the rails? I think I'm set on 4Runner seats though.

I just welded on the old mounts from the toyota seats. They grip you very well, but I'm not sure if any have lumbar like you want

Yeah lumbar is the game changer for me. I found the wiring diagram to the 4Runner powered seats so I'm Gucci.

So after watching 1 ericthecarguy video I understand better how to read wiring diagrams.
I believe this is the wiring diagram I need to follow

I believe this is from the 99-00 4wd ecu. @COMAtized99 the pins that singtoe detailed below are these the same in the diagram above? Most, if not all, of the pins he laid out follow the diagram ^
    image.jpg

EDIT: sorry, yes all the pins match to the 99-00 diagram. Forgot that's also based on the case he gave you, which is a 99.

Did this earlier. Asterisks are pins I'm not sure about.

I wired everything up just as it was from Toyota. I'm odd that way I guess. Only thing I didn't wire in was the cruise control signal.

My friend made this diagram for me, and has given me the ok to share it. One note is you need to switch the v2 and v4 in the diagram. The v2 and v4 will go to the vacuum switch wires on the ecu.

I'll also save you some time. The center diff lock switch on the tcase is the 4wd switch.

Badass. I found an easier to follow diagram regarding the 4wd ecu that's on my laptop. And with this gives the routing for the ADD.

What kind of relays do I need for the ADD? And where to get them.

Also this is going to be a stupid question, but do I need the body harnesses from the 4Runner?
