I think I'm going to wire it to the dome wires so it turns on when I get in and when I unlock, and then turns off when I start the truck

Any chance you could post a link to where you can purchase the light ring? Super cool mod BTW!

Of course, a couple things to note that I figured out. It is not the same as a Tacoma light ring, and there's no black rubber ring that you can buy that would fit because the light ring diameter is too big, and also there is a gap in between the light ring and the ignition cylinder, I personally am going to try to 3d print a trim piece to go there, with that said here's the link.

This info and anything else you'd need about this mod is here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ignition-light-ring-mod-help.260653/

Most of the info you need it on the first page and the last two pages. I did this a few weeks ago and added my process in the last post.

The only thing is this is for a supra and the 4runner rubber ring won't fit unfortunately

The ring that goes around the lighted ring is hard plastic and it does fit, you just need one off a 99-02 4runner. Just took some pics of mine:

And the 4runner part is under $30 brand new online (not including the circle plastic piece). Just seems like a way easier way to do it and you 100% know it works. The other thread also has the info you need to know where to tie it into the overhead lights.

Mines the opposite, tight around the ignition bezel and a gap in between the cylinder and the ring

It looks like the height of the led ring is significantly higher than lock cylinder itself? If the key still gets in there i guess that works though. The 4runner one fits perfectly. It's too bad our trucks didn't have the wiring to just add it plug and play with the stock plug.

Yeah I'm just gonna 3D print a trim piece to go in that gap
