While I'm in the mood for giving things away, anyone need a 1/2 or 3/8 torque ratchet (HF quality)? Sears is having a sale on their micro-clicker torque ratchets ($50/ea) so I finally upgraded from Harbor Freight and would like to see these go to a good home. PM me if interested.

What do you do for gas? Which gas do you get? Additives? I visit Ensenada periodically but have never put Pemex gas in my truck.

I've wanted to do a Baja trip for years! When are you planning on going back down?

What do I do? I fill the tank anytime it is near 1/2 tank line, as you cannot be positive the next place where you must get it is going to have it. There was no shortage of fuel anywhere on my trips this year, however.

I get Pemex Magna (Regular) which is 87 octane, which is the octane I use here in California. It is sold from the green pumps.

Premium (91 octane) is not sold everywhere in the boonies, but it is pretty widespread if you think you need it. The Premium in Baja California is currently imported from the U.S.

Pemex Magna gasoline is BETTER fuel because it is pure gasoline, there is NO ETHANOL added to it. My mileage improves on Mexican gas, as does everyone else's who records such things. In Mexico, corn is for making tortillas not diluting gasoline! You are missing giving your truck a real treat by not filling it with 100% gasoline. It is about $3.25/ gallon currently... a bit more than San Diego prices.

My hope is to go nearly every month in 2017... I am working on a new travel guide and on-line map to Baja California for Baja Bound Insurance. This past two weeks was my third 'expedition' for the new guide. I may miss doing a trip in April, as I have a couple of minor surgeries coming up and you want to avoid Baja during Semana Santa (Easter Week), at least the beaches... All of Mexico goes to the beach to party. It gets very noisy and messy!
Look at my trip reports here and my website www.vivabaja.com to help you decide where you would like to go in Baja... It is 1,000 miles of absolute fun for us in 4x4 Toyotas!
Here is a video that one of the Toyota drivers on my last tour made (Sept. 2016), turn on the sound, "you can't get enough... of Baja!"

I just realized that my spare tire is factory and most likely won't fit my TC gusseted spindles. It's not even the same size as the other 4. Anyone have a cheap 275/70/17 laying around that would work?

Aha, that must be why it says USA on the red premium signs; I thought they were recommending it for US cars.

Here are some articles on Pemex gas quality and avoiding scams.

Hmmm... USA in Spanish is EE.UU. (Estados Unidos), they double the letters because it is plural.
It is not a permanent situation and only in Baja norte.

Installed some @SDHQ OFFROAD ABS sensor guards on all 4 corners today. Small skid insurance for what could be a few hundred dollars in parts alone if you break the sensors offroad. You could also potentially lose 4x4 abilities when broken, too.

Mounted a 36" UWS chest onto the bed with 5 bolts through the floor; and added some D-rings inside it to strap down gear. Also super thankful for the bed liner from Line-X (San Diego) for holding up to all the abuse I've put it through.

Wanted: 2nd Gen lower control arms. My bushings are long due for replacing and I would like to minimize down time by installing new bushings on a spare set of LCAs. I am willing to buy the spare set, or swap them for my OEM ones.

I went out to anza borrego for the first time. and it was super fun only stayed a couple hours though. I left my house in tierrasanta around 6 and got there around 8 stayed till 10 or 11. Did part of coyote canyon and didn't feel comfortable going past this super muddy river crossing part becuase there was a pretty deep wheel trench thing so I turned around and drove around a bit but it got stupid packed.
