Sylvania Silverstar Ultras have been good for me. I did have one bulb blow at about 18 months and I see from reviews that longevity isn't the best. Otherwise, they do their job and light up the road without being obnoxious.

I went the XenonDepot route, LEDs, after having tried and returned the HIDs from HIDeXtra (no hassle on the return either). Very happy with the LEDs, very bright (unbelievable difference from stock). As pointed out in many lighting threads, HIDs will likely have scatter. The LEDs I have, admittedly have a hint of scatter that I can see when pulling out of my driveway as the lights hit the trees across the road. I've never been flashed though (got flashed a lot with the HIDs). The high beam output is not great but my light bar helps out there so not a big deal. Pricey but I was able to find a 20% coupon at the time.

Go with Sylvanias, but know they won't last as long. Every set I've had in other cars has lasted around 18-24 months. I would avoid LED and HID's for the pure fact of scatter and blinding oncoming traffic.

Whats that proverb about a light that shines twice as bright, but half as long?

Brightest non-blue halogen bulb upgrade. If you do not want to run the harness, scroll to the end and see my recommendations on brightest stock wattage non-blue bulbs. Note that the recommendations are based on actual measured data and not subjective feelings. Sylvania Silverstars are not on the list.

Generally LEDs are not a good idea in halogen reflectors (see why here) these Philips H4s are the only ones from a respectable brand I am aware of who claim to have solved the scatter issues. They do a better job compared to most LEDs, though they are actually for right hand drive vehicles, meaning your beam cutoffs go up to the left and down to the right. They should go down to the left to stay out of oncoming drivers eyes, and up to the right to illuminate street signs.

I was curious on their claims, you can see my comparison of the Philips LEDs to the halogen upgrade here:

I'll second the SilverStars. Not a bad bulb. When my stockers are done...I'll probably go with them

+1 to this. One of my favorite things I've done to my truck so far. I went with the morimoto projector fogs, instead of the phillips fog bulbs though. I would recommend spending the $150 on a pair of projector fogs instead of spending $150 on just fog bulbs.

The phllips for the headlights are amazing though. And they don't blind people.

I do see the reflectors on the Phillips are angled the other way, however I've never personally had anyone flash me since installing these. When I shine them up to my garage there is a very clear cutoff. I really like these bulbs for someone who doesn't want to do a retrofit. BHLM is still a technically a better way to go, but for those of you who want minimal effort, the phillips took me all of 10min to install.

I get the second cheapest kind. Work great for me. Brighter does not mean better.
My dad got the super bright Sylvanias and they melted the inside of his plastic lens hahaha.

Running those at the moment and they work very well.

Only thing I've been trying to do (and not very hard, I'll admit) is get matching bulbs for my fogs... Fogs are a different kind and not the same brightness level which OCD-wise is annoying.

I didn't want to change the correctly engineered DOT certified headlight assembly, or any wiring. I replaced both lamps with Volsa H4 + 100's http://store.candlepower.com/64205.html. They're halogen, w/increased light output, correct cutoff, correct color, not melting anything, road legal, on sale.

Exact replacement for the Osram 70/65w Hyper H4 bulb, which is no longer available.
