    THIS

I was going to post an update that I discovered it smooths out quite a bit 70% of the time if I give it more gas. The RPMs are revving up higher than usual as well. Accelerating slowly, its guaranteed to bump or revv, especially in the afternoon as it warms up. It was cool this morning and everything felt smooth and tight.

Where did you find this OBD, eBay? Which brand do you have?

91 octane actually results in a torque bump on the 4.0 and it comes in at a lower RPM.

    With 87, the 4.0 produces 236HP @ 5,200 and 266 lb ft @ 4,000.
    With 91, the 4.0 produces 239HP @ 5,200 and 278 lb ft @ 3,700.

I've been running 91 since I bought my truck. No issues whatsoever.

A 2005 and up V6 has a compression ratio of Just over 10.2:1 compression and the 2017 Tacoma V6 has a 11.8:1 compression ratio . with those #'s I would say that's a high compression motor

at my next job interview they're going to ask me to tell them something about me and I'm just going to quote these specs about my truck and see what they say.

Got the MAF sensor cleaner last night, I can't tell if I feel slightly more power or if it's placebo.

I wasn't able to wedge a flathead into the butterfly to clean the throttle body and would have just cleaned the back side of it, but my torque wrench has disappeared somewhere which is awesome I wanted to be able to put the bolts back in properly.

Plugs, differential fluid change on the docket for this weekend and possibly the tranny flush I want to see how it runs after the plugs get changed and throttle body is properly cleaned. it would feel good to have it done but at the same time silly doing it so damned early.

In other news I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching away from GEICO to my credit union.

I've used 93 octane for a few years now, truck runs better and the engine sounds smoother. I get the taco tick with 87, nothing at all with 93.

Trans fluid low is an often reported problem on 2016+ trucks with the new 6-speed. The 5-speed didn't have this issue. Of course it's possible the fluid was replaced by the previous owner and underfilled.

Unlike Subaru dealers, Toyota dealers don't apply ECM updates unless the customer complains about a problem and the description matches the symptoms written in the TSB. Even then you may get the runaround. Also note this won't be free if you are outside the powertrain warranty.

All I did was pop the negative off before cleaning he sensor or the the front side of he throttle body, I'll do the proper throttle body cleaning tomorrow morning with the plugs..is there a reason to pop off both battery cables after cleaning the throttle body?

This was the post I read on the low fluids. What do y'all think.

Disconnect the battery and let it set for an hour. I don't know if this will help, and it may not reset the computer, but it works wonders in a chevy. You may need the magic box to clear all codes and reset the brain. My 2012 sequoia changed a lot of it's shifting habits after I changed batteries. Either way it's free and easy!

Negative cable disconnection is sufficient. Standard shop practice applies.
