Can't seem to find a similar issue but I also haven't had my coffee

    20170318_105610.jpg

Tried to remove it this morning and it started separating instead of unscrewing itself from the base

How do I remove my antenna at this point?

Pliers and vise grips don't work

Try soaking the threads with penetrating fluid. Hope it's a corrosion issue, not a cross thread one.

I'm guessing it's cross threaded because it spins fairly easily just doesn't actually unscrew itself

Is the hex collar spinning on the stub shaft, or are the hex collar and stub spinning together?

If the latter it may be that the mast is completely unscrewed and it's just crud ("stiction") holding the non-threaded portion in the socket. If the hex is spinning on the stub then I'd use a pair of small or chain nose vise grips to grab it and turn/pull it out...

The hex collar spun itself and then it's all spinning together now and not coming out of the base

O Riley's sells the spanner wrench that you need to get this apart, Then put some anticease on your antenna before you put it back together.

OP you will need to retighten the bottom part before taking the antenna out, or it will fall down inside the fender. In your case you can hold it up using the antenna.

the one I have came off the tool truck before I retired. the one at O Riley's is just like the other ones I have seen it is universal. NAPA sells them too. Every good body man has one in his tool box.

The tool will hold the chrome piece while you remove the antenna. you may have to tighten and loosen the antenna while holding the chrome piece to break up the crud that has built up inside the threaded socket but if you take it easy it will come out. Then just put some antisease or grease on the antenna before you put it back on. If we lived a little closer to each other I would come over and help:burnrubber:
