I had a set of retrofits built by @Roo1041. I love them, I always get compliments about them. The rear color changing RGB halos behind the shrouds and completely pointless but damn do they look cool. The front halos illuminate with your running lights, and with your headlights. It flashes orange along with the turn signals.

I used to have to have my high beams on to see at night since my OEM housings were so faded (I think they had the original factory bulbs in them.) Don't buy the cheap eBay ones that claim to be projectors. They look cool, but the light output is worse than the OEM ones. Check out theretrofitsource.com.

They're ACME H1 projectors with 6,000k bulbs, 90mm RGB Halos behind Gatling Gun 2.0 shrouds, and 80mm XSB Halo switchbacks on the front.

Retrofit is really the way to go if you want to do more than change the bulb but that's $. Aftermarket assembly's tend to be cheap junk. They quickly get sun damage and lose their seal or burn out. If you buy HIDs make sure you don't cheap out. Same goes for LED but OPT7 I've found to be low in price and high in quality in comparison. Good luck OP. All depends on what you want to spend. You can clean the stock housing lens with bug spray by the way. Does a nice job

~500-1000 they're stupid expensive. Look up retrofit headlights. What year is that?

I looked, they aren't that much but I would go with new stock housings and some nice bulbs. I will vouch for led but hid is good as well.

    A. Don't spend much and don't expect much. That said, I bought $90 a pair ebay cheapies for my 2nd gen and sealed them up well with silicone and sprayed them with this:

    https://www.amazon.com/U-Pol-Products-0796-Clear-CLEAR/dp/B009LHER0M

They get a little fog in them when it rains from the bulb sockets and I can get rid of it by taking the bulbs out for a night / day and letting them vent. The light dispersion sucks, but I live in the city and got some led cubes for fog lights, tilted them up and used those as headlights on unlit country roads and off-road, but I only go out there a couple times a year unfortunately cuz I'm so busy with school and work, oh yeah and no money...

    Ones I bookmarked on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/231204007136?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

    B. Get the spyder headlights that fit your budget and probably wish you spent another $150 and did your own retrofit.

    https://www.carid.com/2000-toyota-t...-halo-projector-led-headlights-284645581.html

    C. Spend ~$400-$450 and do your own retrofit.

    2nd gen tutorial:

    https://www.theretrofitsource.com/

There's a couple of people on here who can get you a discount on a kit from this site and their stuff is top notch.

I bought everything during TRS' Black Friday sale, so the whole cart was $225 with a 25% discount. (original MSRP $300) I bought the cheapest projectors they have (which is the ACME H1's). I also paid someone to build them for me. With the new headlight housings, HID parts, assembly, shipping, tax, and misc. fees I spent close to $500.

If you want a decent set of retrofits you're looking to spend about that price. I bought the cheapest HID's that TRS offers since I was on a budget. People on here pay upwards of a thousand for their setups. I think it is completely worth it. I can see at night and they look amazing. I always get complements about them and I'd go as far to say that they complete the truck.

The switchback halos and shrouds give it a very modern look. You don't get that with just swapping the housings with the stock bulb. It's really just aesthetic really, if your goal is to see at night then there are much cheaper options (see here). If you're going for the WOW factor, retrofits are awesome for accomplishing that.

If you're not looking to spend much and just want brighter lights, you can upgrade the bulb. Osram Night Breakers are the brightest quality bulb I found that wouldn't require upgrading any of the wiring. On Amazon they're around 30 bucks or so for the pair. You can throw them in a new aftermarket headlamp housing, like others have mentioned above. My OEM headlamp housings were in good shape and I was able to clean up the foggy yellowness well enough. Huge improvement, though I still had the OEM bulbs in there. They were 16 years old, so of course the light output with the new bulbs blew me away.
