Just went repelling down some waterfalls. they picked us up in this truck
And brought us back in this one
It was a little awkward having the guy help me into my harness with some residual truck boner:D

Saw a dark grey 2nd gen, front and rear bumpers and swing out (no tire) and a roof rack full of stuff being flat bedded by a tow truck on 680 south about an hour ago. Anyone?

    :notsure:

I think that's the one @tacomgee ordered, and said you can do pull ups on the thing.

I was talked to Ted about it last weekend when he was in town, but didn't know the manufacturer. Not even sure if this is the same manufacturer Blake went with, I just came across it.

Your not kidding, almost every taco over there at least a 6" lift. I did see a few nice ones that had plate bumpers bed rack and RTT with just a mid travel sup. I did see a few DB 6" lifted ones that looked clean, I would drive for sure. Only because there is limited wheeling on Maui so who cares about being functional.

:notsure: It caught my eye because guys with kids said it would be great to not have poles and guy wires that the kids trip over while running around in camp and such.

It may be a cool concept that really needs more engineering and strength to be practical and durable. Guys were complaining about it not dealing well with snow loads and I'm all like, why would you even have that up in snow? It's a sunscreen or light rain shelter.

    Word.

I was interested in his standard awning for the same reasons - no guy lines = no tripping hazards for the kids. Super interesting at the price point it's at also, which is about the same as a standard ARB awning.

Won't be getting an awning until/unless I'm using the Runner in a way an awning makes sense, which I'd really fucking like to do.

Definitely gonna keep an eye on it when Blake and Iggy get theirs in, just to see the construction. Not interested in the 270* version with the hatch on the 4Runner.

my only concern would be wind. what wind speed can it handle. the only places I see a need for one would be Pismo or desert type areas and wind could be a bitch. every where else I go is shady or im to far from my truck.
I can see the snow use though if tiring to cook under it when its snowing you would want that. not my cup of tee though. I will only be camping in the snow in an emergency situation.

awesome. surfed for the first time, did ok but it kicked my ass. weather was perfect. got up close with some hump backs. Had some of the best pulled pork ever, also had a half bacon half beef burger at Maui brewery that was amazing. Hiking didn't work out the wife brought the wrong shoes and we had to turn back half way up the first hike and that was the end of hiking this trip. we snorkeled a few days, and shopped one day. did a lot of exploring around west side. Checking out beaches. been crazy busy since I got back. worked 12 hrs first day back to work. have a mid term tomorrow, been studying for that. starting to get caught up here on TW.

Actually never said anything like that.

But i was sold when i saw the IG vid of the guy driving around at speed with it open with no issues. For the price, its worth a try. If it works, great! If its a piece of shit, now i know.
Should be here in a couple weeks.
Me, iggy and Jason all got one. Will report back if worth getting.

Right, agreed on pretty much all those counts. We have an REI shelter that can serve blowing sand and heat issues in the Eastern Sierra. But it takes up storage space and needs to be assembled. Would only use if overnighting. I'll probably get an ARB awning or similar for convenience one I have my Prinsu on.
