Hey Guys, just purchased a new tacoma in the gold color, Thinking of customizing this thing. I know that I will get new headlights for it and maybe black out the rims?? Not sure what else would be a pretty cheap customization that would look awesome! Any pics or suggestions will be great!!!

The blacked out wheel thing is played out. So played out GM now offers it on outlaw grandpa edition trucks

    Welcome to TW. Nice truck.

What is your intended use for the truck? Mostly on-road daily driver? Weekend wheeler on easy/moderate trails? Hardcore wheeling?

Aesthetics are really subjective. It's your truck and your look. That's all that matters.

For example I disagree with the poster above. I've only run black wheels on my vehicles since 1990. I love it. I'll never run a different wheel color. Once I went black I....whoa, brother!

Also since the truck is brand new to you I'd spend the first go around of money on maintenance items and making sure all the basics are taken care of. Not sexy, I know, but a sound decision IMO

Also spray paint is cheap and can go a world of wonders for the look of your truck. E.g. Blacking out the chrome, color matching the grille surround, etc

Nice rig, as Madjik_Man stated, maintenance items first, dig in there and get to know the your Tacoma. You will be rewarded with knowing what you and your truck are capable of. Have fun and enjoy.

If you get new headlights get DEPO or TYC brand. Most of the others are junk and have a terrible light beam pattern. I'd also get some new turn signal housings, it looks like one is darker on yours for some reason. As far as cheap mods go, you can't go wrong with painting the stock wheels black or gunmetal. A nice cheap mod that makes your truck stand out from the rest. I also agree that painting the grille surround to match and blacking out the chrome part on the bumpers will make it look better. I wouldn't black out the front Toyota emblem though, makes it look weird to me when people do that.

A new grille seemed to make a big change in mine. Tail lights too changed a lot, whether tinted or some new Spyders or something. A new drop in k+n filter is a cheap but I think a good investment. Looks good

I totally agree, never gave the blackout thing a second thought. Keep the stock rims they look best at least IMHO.

Is it just a daily or do you intend to wheel it? When I first got mine I did the sound system and heated seats. I daily the truck and drive a few hundred miles per week so creature comforts were pretty high on my priority list. Other than that, just maintain it and it get back to being comfortable. Suspension/bushings are probably worn.

    ...we'll get there.
welcome! there's tons of fun to be had. take a look at other people's builds and then make a plan for yourself. a lot of it will depend on what you want to do with your truck.
