Yes it does. Blue lights are factory but can be changed if you're comfortable soldering.

Yes they are! Most likely the same ones you used on the heated seat switches.

Do you know which wire I need to add? New controls came in and I plan to drop them in tomorrow.

 

Any screenshots or link to where I need to add the ground wire? The ones replied earlier did not note that part.

 

Oh yea one sec let me find my previous post in here with the pin #. For ground location there is a screw on the steering column, right up above the gas/brake pedals that you will see already has another ground wire, I just ran it to that, super easy/close.

 

see my above quoted post. Includes link to a thread that mentions which blank spot to add the ground pin. I remember I had a little trouble trying to orient myself with the diagram in that thread, so just make sure before you button everything up to test and make sure your controls do light up once you add the ground wire.

And again, I just ran the wire to the pre-existing ground bolt on the steering column portion above gas/brake pedals.

 

Got it. Where did you buy the terminal to wire it up? I think once I get that I should be good to set it up.

Also reading through that thread it seems that if you run another wire to the head unit you will gain the left and right buttons that do not work. Saw it in the post below.

I actually have a bunch of terminals I bought for pinning projects, non OEM but fit perfectly all the same. Toyota has terminals for like ~$12 a piece, pre-crimped to a short piece of wire.

The OEM pins are 82998-24290 i'm pretty sure. The same pin type I used in my ignition ring mod worked for the S8 connector, so this OEM part# should be right.

My thread below -- first post has a pic with a bag of pins/part number you can get if you are fine with doing some crimping. Honestly if you don't have a pin crimper or anything I'd just bite the bullet and get the OEM pins or go find a junker Toyota and cut the harness out of it. Or maybe check eBay too.

EDIT: oh and about the control L/R arrows. For the 2013 I don't have a JBL radio or anything, just basic touch screen, and honestly not sure if the L/R arrows would do anything anyway. I know those guys were adding it since they had upgraded to the 2014+ radio with nav and stuff. I guess L/R arrow might work on the input screen with all the Cd/FM/Am/etc options but not sure where else. I never ended up adding a wire to add that functionality.

 

I do not have the crimper but damn those little guys are expensive when you go OEM. I just bought some for the Helux and I had to re wire the connector for my HVAC. Prob cost me $50 so far. Buying oem cheap connectors and a crimper would have been the way to go. I may just have to grab a crimper and a few connectors at .14 cents a piece. I have the bone stock 2013 radio as well. I wonder if it would even work as you pointed out. Seems like the ground is easy to swap in from the start and only takes one terminal.

 

man are those OEM connectors bank. $20-$25 bucks is what I was quoted so far. May just have to bite the bullet on the crimper and connectors. AT least then I go that route later for other stuff

 

Yeah thats what kinda sucks. Either shell out for expensive OEM terminals every once in a while or go ahead and invest in a crimp tool and a buttload of pins for a little more than that and have them for the longhaul. Of course some connectors require different size pins tho and it kinda sucks to go track down the manufacturer equivalent of the OEM one you need :/

 

Yah so far for the stuff I had to work on, I had to use 2 different connectors from Toyota and both were a big rang in price. If you go through mouser and get the ones noted in that thread, you can get a 50 pack for $5 and a crimper for $22 or I can get one OEM for $20. Seems like a no brainer. I did notice that they said you need to cut off a piece of the connector here. Did you have to do that for the S8 connector?

 

the ring light said to use
571-1123343-1, I found in the thread for the install they were using 571-1674311-1 from http://www.mouser.com/. I am guessing the later you do not have to bend or remove. I wonder if the former is the one for the hvac etc. That would have saved some coin.
