Way too cheap out and put a note in the instructions instead of fixing the design flaw so it works as an oem replacement. With all the mixed info I'm seeing here Icon should just fix this.

It comes down to the principle to me. Advertise it as 100% bolt on, yet when someone does just that, bolts it on, you void warranty. If your product is causing issues, fix your product. Don't pull a sleight of hand and change a page of the install instructions to cover your ass. Especially since most don't need to read them for a simple shock change on a "100% bolt on" product. Apparently a qualified installer can put these on without cutting, so even with this qualified installer, his warranty would of still been voided.

If it's a big enough problem that Icon had to change the instructions, then it's a big enough problem for them to properly fix. Or they could put a warning on their website stating it requires cutting.

    HAH!

It turns out after 15000mi of dickhead grade driving mine have been rubbing a tiny bit. When I installed them the hoses were close to the shock mount and I ground them out of the way. Didn't look like the 90 would contact the mount but it definitely has.
Driver side has rubbed a tiny tiny bit.

Passenger side has rubbed a tiny bit more.

I demand my 90s be warrantied!!

So to everyone still saying Icon should fix it because it's a flaw, yada yada yada.

What do you say about this picture, as @tetten pointed out. It's installed incorrectly in at least one way. Is it still on the manufacturer?

Naw, I'm good I used a sanding pad. :bananadance: (Seriously though, I did, I prefer them to grinding discs for most things)

It's unbelievable how sensitive people are about inanimate objects!

In the end, it's a damn shock absorber!

any and all of my comments have been "disregarding OP" as mentioned a few pages back. I still believe this should be a fix by ICON on their product instead of a change in instructions. Having to "sand" my shock buckets would deter me from buying them when I can get something equivalent price/quality without having to.

So I assume after all this, still no progress OP? Either way, sell those and get some kings...that way the design excuses can go away!

Someone already mentioned this one, where the King's don't fit the lower shock mount. King does mention in the install instructions that some modification maybe needed. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/king-rear-shocks-not-fitting-in-lower-shock-mount.474650/

Anything I install, I always assume modification will be needed, so little shit like this seems acceptable.

yes I remember this one. mine did not have to be "widened" to fit as what the instructions said. this was a one time situation as far as I know. also, King already had mention in their instructions...they didn't have to make a change to cover their asses.

So if you had any issue with it not being installed right...would King outright refuse your warranty? I think that is what would concern me from this Icon shitfest.

True that...if the literature has it, I think you could hold the manufacturer reliable for the product after unless its I***.

Not until someone comes up with instructions from earlier, not mentioning the widening. :)

I installed my Icons pre-notch instructions, as have many others, and never had any rubbing or leaking issue. I think it was appropriate for them to mention notching the mount to reduce the possibility of an issue, but its really on the installer and ultimately the end user to verify it fits, regardless what the instructions say.

Stuff like tires don't come with instructions about removing mudflaps or doing a CMC, so they would fit and function properly, but we all do it when necessary.

FALSE. Larger tires do actually come with instructions about making sure they will fit your vehicle.

Icon advertised these as "OE Fitment" which is false. OE is not "notched".
