    The front clamshell has two mounting bolts on the yoke Shaft. If they both fail it will cause the driveshaft & diff to rub all over the place. I'd bet this individual also has a damaged oil pan as well.
    I got stuck out on a trail at Rausch with this very same issue.
    Managed to execute a trail repair and make the 100 mile ride home. Had the diff mount fixed and new pan installed.
