Well, broke a nail down to the pad but we're not letting that keep us from our favorite sleeping position.

This is one of the reasons socialization is so important. Getting pups used to people touching them or cleaning ears Or taking temps. Etc.

Which isn't to say a lack of socialization is why your pup bit the vet.

I totally agree. Socialization is key. Training them is another one too.
I always taught my dogs during puppy stage to not bite humans. Even during play when pups are excited and nip, I always grabbed their bottom jaw and tongue while holding it and saying "no biting". Dogs hate when you hold their jaw. They learn that biting is bad for them.
By doing this, I never had a dog that bit someone.

No napping is permitted in our house without the supervision of a dog.

She is very socialized. For some reason the new vet tec was insisting on being her friend and when the vet stuck her with a rabies vacc the tec was in her face. I think it scared her mainly.

Socialization is good. Rescues are funny (and not ha ha either).

I always warn the vet techs that Lucy will bite the crap out of them, and to get me a muzzle for her. The last one was all "aw, this sweetie wouldn't bite me!"

I told her to check the chart. She did...and got the muzzle. Ironically, Lucy was calm this last time, so it's clear that she is getting better. The heartworm treatments sort of inured her to the vet so while she doesn't like it, she doesn't get all wound up either. She has significant trust issues, so I really wonder what she went through before we rescued her.

She's great with kids, and gets along well with other dogs...that she knows. She does not like strangers in any capacity, and it takes about an hour for her to get used to new people. Once she adds you to her "circle of trust" she will be all over you for love.

    IMG_1341.jpg

She's the big one on the right. The little one is Kiki, and loves absolutely everybody. Both rescues.

    Rescues are funny.

Tied it off. Thinking about creating something less half-assed for it...assuming that it hasn't been done already.
