The computer is smart enough to upshift to avoid damage to the engine.

 

It's sport mode with a traditional automatic, not a dual clutch system lol. You can't hold gears forever in this truck with an auto.

Damn computers these days, takes the fun out of everything. In my old truck I could put it in 1 and hit the rev limiter and it would stay until I bumped it up or it blew up.

 

If the 3rd gen operates similarly to the 2nd gen it will bounce off the rev limiter for a few seconds before up shifting

 

Put a mouse under the hood. He'll know which wires to chew on.

Who said anything about cutting wires? Just take the tranny out and no more shifting problems

 

Yup remove the engine and tranny, cut a hole in the drivers side and passenger floor boards and use your feet like the Flintstones.
