Hi guys, I want to know if anyone else has experienced a quiet whirring or whistling noise when pressing the clutch to make a shift. It started for me after I briefly drove over a bumpy patch of dirt in a parking lot. My truck has just reached 1003 miles today when I experienced this. Truck is '17 TRD Sport AC 6MT.

Tacoma's weren't made to summit bumpy patches of dirty in a parking lot, warranty won't cover that.

Any ideas? Could it be the throw out bearing? This truck is practically brand new, barely 1003 miles and have had it for 3.5 weeks.

Is your truck still under warranty? Go to your dealer.

Don't tell me you tried shifting gears while in 4-LO, warranty won't cover that either.

Sorry man just having fun, no idea, but it's very unlikely it's running over dirt in a parking lot related.

Take it to the dealer if you think it's not right.

Truck is brand new, only 1000 miles. My plan is to wait a day or two to see if the noise goes away.

Doesn't sound like a bad TOB, those make noise when you're off the clutch and sounds like crickets chirping. With a truck that new I'd say its probably just the clutch getting settled in. But you've got a warranty, take advantage of it and see what the dealer says.

No problem, but this is very strange to me to happen at only 1000 miles. Literally that's the last thing I did before I heard the noise was driving over a patch of dirt in the parking lot here at work with a couple large mounds that shook the truck a little good but I wasn't doing anything intentionally even remotely crazy. It is a faint noise like a whistling sound when I press the clutch.

Throw Out Bearing will make noise in Neutral with your foot off the Clutch.

    ...too much shit to list.
Just once I'd like to read a third gen thread with a genuine question where the first response isn't from some mental midget mouth breathing cock sucker who can't contribute to save his fucking life and does nothing but turn the threads into useless drivel.

That makes sense but doesn't explain the whistling when shifting gears.

Might just be gear noise you are hearing?

It could be I am 99% it isn't since I had never heard this noise before until literally 5 seconds after I cleared the bumpy dirt that jarred my truck up and pushed the clutch in to come to a stop at the parking lot exit.

Crawl under and check things out. I believe the exhaust may ground out easily.

Will take a look. Truck still drives fine and clutch engages and disconnects smooth. It is just this noise that didn't use to occur that is bothering me. I will try to record a video with audio to illustrate my issue:

That's different than a normal TOB then. Normally the TOB is not loaded, not spinning, and not contacting the pressure plate fingers with no pressure on the clutch pedal. Every TOB I'm familiar with is noisy with clutch pedal depressed.

Is there anybody here with a 6 speed 3rd gen that can listen to the sound their clutch makes when pressed. To me it sounds like a faint blowing of air or a quiet rubbing of a knife on a sharpening stone. I will wait a day or two to see if this. I only hear it when I'm moving and shifting gears and not when im in neutral and at a complete stop .
