I'm looking to put new wheels onto my 2016 TRD OR (Quick Sand). I'm interested in wheels that are matte bronze and/or matte bronze w/black. What recommendations does you guys have. If possible can you add the following details:

    Manufacture:
    Model:
    Size:
    Off-set:
    Positives:
    Negatives:

    Hi Cyrus,

Welcome in to TW! I would recommend SCS wheels in both quality and service. Vin over there is a great guy and can help you with size, backspace, off-set all that.

In each of their Toyota series wheels, they have your "Matte Bronze" wheels, just depends what pattern you want. I have the SCS F5 in Gunmetal and the quality and service is first class. I feel their design is simpler and fits the early Gens better. Your 3rd Gen would look awesome in a Stealth model or perhaps the Ray 10. They specialize in Toyota wheels.

SCS has a ton of pics on the website and here in the Wheels forum. Had the same questions you did and ultimately research and preference landed me with SCS.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you very much! SCS Wheels were my first option, but they do not make the SR8 model wheels in 18x9 w/6x5.5 bolt pattern which I will need with the lift kit that I am installing. Only 17in wheels are available which are too small for the lift.

Why not just use a taller tire to achieve the diameter you are shooting for?

Gives more sidewall, less likely to damage wheels.

Honestly not sure. I'm not too experienced with lifts and off-roading. Maybe you can help me out, why do your wheels have to be over a certain size when installing lift kits?

Are ATX and VTX the same company? The link takes me to VTX Wheels. Just curious.

Not sure. Manufacture specification and multiple shops that gave me quotes for the lift installation all told me the same thing. I'm planning to install a BDS 4" Lift (Product #821H) w/ Fox 2.0 shocks.

I'll do some research on it. I'm not very familiar with all of it. I'm still learning.

I'd rethink everything before handing over your CC.

Wheel dia and lift have no correlation. Tire dia and lift do.

    Why 4"?

That's what I thought, but it does say specifically in the installation instructions that with that lift-kit, 18" or bigger wheels would need to be used. I wanted a 4" lift so that I could use 33" tires, but with BFG Goodrich KO2 they don't make 33x12.50 R18 so I'm going with 285x65 R18.

If you want off road function, call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and get the right stuff.

The higher you go the more risk of secondary issues arising. Using the least lift to achieve function is a good goal.

If you are just doing a look at me package, well.....

Agreed that's why I'm only getting a 4" lift. I'm only going up enough to clear the bigger tires. Nothing to impress anyone with. I will mostly be going on light trails and on the beach.
