Can the dealer not check the fluid level in the front diff by simply removing the fill bolt? Seems that is a better option than taking a risk of there being a legit issue.

Why did anyone at the dealership conclude that the noise you were hearing had anything to do with the front diff.? There have been other sources of howling, most notably the lower control arms. Why did they assume it was the diff.?

I don't know why he assumed the Diff but with all the hulabaloo about the recall that was their assumption, I should mention I told Toyota it was at any speed when I was off the gas and than feathered the throttle it has the sound.

Soundslike the rear diff issue some have. Maybe the service guy got confused about that and the recent rear diff recall.

Maybe the front diff is the issue with the vibration in the steering wheel

Seems like a good experiment. I did notice the the diff howl frequency is a verrrry close match to the ring/pinion tooth mesh frequency.

With them holding trucks for months till the fix is in, might end up with some lemons.

Look what the recall dragged in. Have not seen you around in some time.
