Most cost effective large capacity battery (for single battery setup)

So I have been reading for the last hour or so on larger capacity battery options, but have made little headway on a decision so I figured I would ask here.

What I am looking for:

Mount in stock location (I can make any sort of battery cage I need to) using factory battery cables and terminals.

Increased capacity over a 27f... I have some bed lights, and sometimes like to charge things or run radio while truck is off.

Was mainly looking at a 31m from what I am reading but open to others.
Not looking to spend over 250$, or go dual battery.

So what is a good "budget" 31m, or similar battery?

I don't have a battery# but the battery I am planning to install is bigger than a group 27 and has top posts and also threaded studs right next to the top posts. I plan to connect the winch cables to the threaded studs. I have 1 in my Ford for cranking the 460. It's an AC Delco battery, if that helps you figure it out. I haven't measured yet, but I'm pretty sure it will fit.

I think its a group27, but the ford super duty battery has been the same size for a while, ford has a decent warranty, and it was super affordable. The terminals are reversed so you will need to make some new cables and a mount otherwise its great.

 

I did some looking around and the battery I mentioned is a M29MF AC Delco Voyager marine battery. I still need to measure and make sure it will fit.

 

I had great success running a duralast yellow top (deep cycle) with auxilery lights and a winch. Never let me down and had great cold cranking amps. Don't remember the size. I just bought the biggest one that would fit.

 

Marine cranking could be a good choice if it fits and the terminal are proper type and orientation. I replaced mine a few months ago and just went with a top line Auto Zone 27. I would not worry about those bedlights as long as they are LEDs. I learned long ago to just start the truck about every hour or so when running the radio.

I have a NorthStar, Part Number: NSB-AGM-31M

It is sitting inside of a Pelfreybilt battery cage... because it would not fit in the stock battery tray, because it is a Big Boy battery. But with the Pelfreybilt cage, which does fit in the stock location after replacing the battery tray... it does fit, so technically still works for that requirement of yours.

Edit: Shit, sorry... just saw your budget. NorthStar is a little above that (by about $100)

 

WOW! That is definitely a Big Boy Battery! Definitely comes with a Big Boy price tag too. And 76lbs. WOW!

 

Cant go wrong with a Optima Blue top 31M In a sexy @Pelfreybilt battery cage.

 

I very well may be going this route, don't know how I didn't come across this battery in my searches, seems everyone hates optima these days.

 

Deka 649MF is what is in mine.

50% more reserve than stock one.

Optima is hit or miss depending on who you talk to.

 

The price is right for the deka for sure, but 24 month warranty is quite a bit less than what many other manufacturers offer from what I have seen.

 

Yeah seems like everyone hates everything these days..haha Bad reviews on batteries are very hard to trust, so many bad reviews are caused by the customer from poor care, connections, load shedding etc.Good Luck
