Only why not I can think of is fuel consumption, but if it will be used for anything more than grilling a few burgers and steaks now and then, definitely 22. Many more cooking options with the bigger size.

22 for sure I have one and there are times I've wished it was larger. Fuel Consumption: as long as your doing low and slow who cares about fuel consumption

The slow&sear is very cool BUT you can definitely get by without it. Just segregate your coals off to the side, put a couple fire bricks on edge to contain, and then a water pan under the meat.

Alright, graduation weekend next week for me. We have myself, my roommate, and a few close friends finally graduating college. Aka, lots of beers and lots of hungry mouths. Anyways, I wanted to try something new and make pulled pork pizza and mac&cheese. Any one done this? I am thinking of making the crust, making homemade bbq sauce, covering with mozzarella, onions, and bell pepper. Cook that about half-way and then pull it out and add freshly pulled pork and big fresh pineapple rings with pineapple head seasoning and back in for the final bit of time. I think adding the pork last minute will help keep it from drying out? Should I just make it all at once?

Mac and cheese is easy. Make a big batch, toss on the smoker to add smoke flavor and stir in pork.

Does that sound reasonable? Just going off my head and not a real recipe.

I made that one for my wife and her friends one night. Scored some major brownie points!
That sounds so good right now!

I still think The Slut is the best big chain pizza out there. Color me stupid.

P.S... gotta be the original crust, not that millennial shit.

He sounds like 22 may be the gateway drug. If he starts out with the 26 he may OD. For 100 bucks it's the perfect introduction.

I started with the 18" weber.... Then the drinking got more frequent, more friends came by, I started to gain weight... Soon most of my money went to meat, charcoal, seasonings, and beer. Then my wife got hooked. Next thing you know the whole family was involved and they started to get hooked. More meat, more beer, bigger weber and I added a 22. This kept up for a few years, but it wasn't enough... Finally I had to do something...IMG_0539.jpgNow I have to go to classes and a 12 step program. conclusion... the 18 is one of the most addictive gate way drugs out there. Next thing you know you will be selling plasma trying to buy more steel to get a new bbq. All this for just one more hit. Be careful what you wish for and my final warning is that mother in laws love ribs... I have to cook in the dark so she doesn't know and show up!

Yeah I have the slow n sear and personally feel it was not worth the price, based on the reviews was thinking I was the only one that felt that way :anonymous:

With the 22" kettle my mods that I feel have been worth it are:

Lid Holder have to drill 2 holes in the side but makes life so much easier. Most used Mod. Edit: actually you don't have to drill holes but I flattened the tabs and drilled through them to keep a better seal.

Hinged cooking grate to add coals for longer cooks\smokes

Charcoal Rails while you can use them for coals I use it to set another charcoal grate on top of them

charcoal grate for searing steaks, the coals sit right under the steaks which is important for good sear. You end up with 2 charcoal grates but just store the rails and 2nd grate off to the side when not cooking steaks.

Charcoal baskets are how I normally cook with indirect heat. In the summer usually only need one basket to keep temps low. Also work well with the-

Weber Rotisserie which is the best way I have found to cook chicken and turkeys. Because meat always taste better on a stick. There are 479 reviews with 4.7 out of 5 stars for good reason.

Cover to protect your kettle. With the lid holder on the side the OEM cover doesn't fit well and those covers are stiff and a PITA in the winter IME. The one I linked to fits over everything, looks good and easy on\off. Have to see how it holds up long term but so far held up well.

Hey we can get the price of that $10 kettle up there even without the slow n sear :p But everything I have listed has helped me quite a bit.
