So I am talking to a guy at a shop about a lift and he informs me that almost all Tacoma's have some steel bolt that is in an aluminum sleeve and almost everyone ends up with at least one being seized. What could he be referring to?
    Thanks

Well there's only a handful of bolts on the LCAs. The 2 bolts for frame mounting/alignments and the lower shock mount. For those in the rust belt or wet climates the 2 for frame mounting/alignments the bolts for those can rust up and seize if they aren't touched in a long time.

It's a common problem in your LCA bolts (as you mentioned in your thread title). If yours aren't seized yet, I'd suggest removing them, cleaning off any surface rust or contamination and greasing them inside and out and replacing them. If they are damaged/seized, there's no way around it, you'll need to replace them and grease the new ones. Link for reference from the all-knowing @Crom :

Edit. Anyone else notice "coolavatars.net" Google took OP that far, but not far enough to learn about seized cam bolts?

Well just found out mine are seized. If I buy a new bolt I should be able to jut zip the old one off and replace it correct? I can get the nut and rear side adjustment off, just cant get the actual bolt and front side to move.

Best thing to do is buy new nuts, bolts and cam tabs, then sawzall everything off. Make sure not to damage the LCA or your frame mounts.

Next time just spray some PB blaster very liberally all over the bolts a few days ahead of time, and do it a few times a day. That would be your best bet in unseizing them

Both sides. Rebuilding the front end, and I really didn't want any unnecessary down time with the truck being my DD

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
Thanks for this. I am debating whether I should be lazy and order to have them just in case, or take apart in advance to find out if needed or not. I want to replace LCA bushings with poly..

All 4 of my bolts were hard seized. I had to cut all of them out. No "just zip them out". It was a huge pain in the ass.

I have been debating the same... Something every month it seems.

Thats what I'm in the process of doing right now. New LCA's, bj's, poly bushings, and all new hardware... Shit better work
